Coonee
Coonee was a planetary body located within the galaxy. Smuggler Tregga proposed a hypothesis suggesting that the Wookiee named Chewbacca took on the responsibility of raising a young, orphaned Han Solo following the conclusion of the Clone Wars. Before their capture by the Galactic Empire on the world of Mimban, they supposedly earned a living on planets like Coonee and Saberhing.
This theory was shared by Tregga with bartender Tivoche Bilure, who then documented it in his journal. Bilure remained skeptical of the theory, citing Tregga's known issues with malfunctioning implants. Irrespective of Tregga's claims, Han and Chewbacca's initial encounter occurred on Mimban, subsequent to their capture by the Empire.
Behind the scenes
The first mention of Coonee occurred within the 2018 canon replica journal, Solo: A Star Wars Story: Tales from Vandor, authored by Jason Fry.
Originally, Coonee was conceived by George Lucas as an element of Han Solo's backstory; however, it was never formally integrated into Solo's biographical narrative. According to Lucas's vision, Han Solo journeyed to Coonee and dedicated three years to herding and transporting coldppedas throughout the cosmos. Lucas's notes pertaining to Han Solo's past were incorporated in the 2007 reference book titled The Making of Star Wars: The Definitive Story Behind the Original Film by Jonathan W. Rinzler. Coonee was subsequently introduced into the Star Wars Legends continuity within the 2009 reference book, The Essential Atlas, also penned by Jason Fry.
