Corellian Exclusion Zone

The Corellian Exclusion Zone was a region of space encircling Corellia. It was created in 40 ABY amidst the Blockade of Corellia during the Second Galactic Civil War. This blockade, implemented after the Galactic Alliance's unsuccessful occupation of Tralus, served only to anger the people of the Corellian system. It also pushed more systems to align with the Confederation that was established later.

During this blockade, the military forces of the Galactic Alliance maintained a strong presence by preventing any vessels from either departing or arriving at the planet, effectively isolating it. The primary goal was to cut off supplies of food and materials to the orbital factories, thereby pressuring the Corellian government into submission. The blockade had a severe impact on the shipyards belonging to the Corellian Engineering Corporation, potentially leading to catastrophic consequences for Corellia. Only Galactic Alliance military vessels, or civilian ships possessing specific authorization codes, were permitted to traverse the exclusion zone without the threat of destruction.

Following the Battle of Corellia, when fleets from Commenor and Bothawui assisted Corellian military units in overpowering the Alliance blockade, the Corellian Exclusion Zone was lifted.
