Danu

Danu, a female Human, held the position of sister to Sarna, the Queen of Drogheda. Sarna's reign occurred during the era of the Galactic Civil War. Secretly, Danu championed a widespread uprising that sought to dismantle the existing monarchy and establish a democratic system, acting as a crucial link for the insurgents within the Drogheda Citadel following the Battle of Endor. Her involvement was pivotal in the revolt's triumph during 4 ABY, culminating in her sister's banishment.

Biography

Danu, a female Human, was born on the planet of Drogheda. This world maintained a traditional monarchy even as the Imperial Period progressed. She was the sibling of Sarna, who became the Queen of Drogheda after the Battle of Endor. In the aftermath of the battle, their planet was experiencing instability and turmoil due to the fragmentation of the Galactic Empire's dominance. A significant consequence of Endor on Drogheda was the emergence of a popular revolution with the aim of replacing the monarchy with a democratic structure. Danu, sympathetic to the revolutionaries, became their inside contact within the Drogheda Citadel. She communicated with them using a crystal transmitter worn as a necklace. As the revolution gained momentum in 4 ABY, Queen Sarna sought assistance from Lando Calrissian, an old acquaintance who had transitioned from a smuggler to a hero of the Rebel Alliance, to safeguard her rule. Sarna dispatched Danu to meet him upon his arrival on Drogheda. While transporting Calrissian to the Citadel, Danu and Calrissian were attacked and nearly plunged off a cliff, but they were rescued by the opportune arrival of Harlech, the Commander of the Royal Guard.

Subsequently, Sarna sent Danu to observe a planned assault on a rebel camp at Mount Meru Mine, where she witnessed government forces killing fleeing individuals. Although they captured a single living prisoner, a man named Dar, Harlech murdered him inside the Citadel when Calrissian attempted to interrogate him. Danu arrived immediately after the shooting. As tensions escalated between Sarna and Calrissian, who had learned the true nature of the conflict on Drogheda and refused to oppose the people's right to self-determination, Danu revealed her role as the rebels' contact within the palace. She signaled the rebel attack on the Citadel by detonating the building's armory. Calrissian ultimately acted as a diversion, occupying Sarna's guards long enough for the rebels to seize the palace and depose the monarchy. Despite her gratitude to Calrissian, Danu compelled him to leave the planet immediately and paid him to take Sarna into exile.

Personality and traits

Danu's character was shaped by her relationship with her sister, the Queen of Drogheda. Her personal relationship with Sarna was strained, and her political beliefs led her to oppose her sister regarding the future of the planet's government. While initially unimpressed with Lando Calrissian, Danu found herself attracted to him upon his return to Drogheda and enjoyed provoking her sister by expressing her interest in him. Danu possessed exceptional combat skills, was a skilled marksman with a blaster, and took pride in her abilities.
