Those traversing the lake were obligated to adhere to a designated route, as straying from it resulted in plummeting into the Depths of Eternity, a descent from which rescue or recovery was impossible.
In 43.5 ABY, Jedi Grand Master Luke Skywalker and his son, Jedi Knight Ben Skywalker, journeyed to Sinkhole Station to locate the Mind Walkers. The Mind Walkers guided them beyond shadows, ultimately leading them to the Lake of Apparitions. During their crossing of the lake, Luke faltered, resulting in his leg becoming submerged. Upon investigating the cause, Ben observed that his father had lost his footing upon seeing Mara Jade Skywalker suspended on the water's surface.
Subsequently, both Skywalkers returned there via Mind Walking, accompanied by Sith High Lord Sarasu Taalon, Sith Saber Gavar Khai, and Captain Leeha Faal. Faal was pulled into the Depths by long-deceased adversaries, inducing severe convulsions in her physical body, ultimately leading to her demise.
