Description
Overview
Across the galaxy, numerous factions made use of a type of warship referred to as a destroyer. The Anaxes War College System defined a destroyer, as a type of capital ship, as a warship whose length fell between roughly 1,000 and 2,000 meters. This placed it in size between a heavy cruiser and a battlecruiser. The destroyer class was introduced by the system in what the Chiss and other groups from the Unknown Regions call Lesser Space, which is the portion of the galaxy situated beyond the Unknown Regions.
Models

Many different destroyer models were actively used. The Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet and the Ruling Families of the Chiss Ascendancy made use of the Clarr destroyer and the Chiss destroyer. A variety of models were used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems, including the Commerce Guild's Recusant-class Light Destroyer and Recusant-class Support Destroyer, as well as the Corporate Alliance's Fantail-class destroyer. During their conquests in the Unknown Regions, the Nikardun Destiny deployed the Nikardun destroyer. Various factions, such as the Galactic Republic, Galactic Empire, Imperial Remnants, First Order, and Sith Eternal, all utilized Star Destroyers.
History
The Anaxes War College System broadened the nomenclature during the Clone Wars to encompass three additional classes – the destroyer, the battlecruiser, and the dreadnought – even though the classification of destroyer was already in use in the Unknown Regions. It is worth noting that the dreadnought era predated this, having existed during the Alsakan Conflicts. Destroyers were utilized during the Clone Wars, with the emergence of the Star Destroyer design family and the destroyers utilized by the Separatists. Following the Clone Wars, Star Destroyers continued to be used during the Imperial Era, as well as during the rise and fall of the First Order some decades later.
