In the year 40 BBY, the Hall of Assembly, a structure located on the Inner Rim planet of Pijal, suffered total annihilation. This was achieved through the use of nanotechnology deployed by Pijali blackguards. These blackguards were secretly under the command of both Princess Fanry of Pijal and Deren, the captain of the royal guard. The princess's motivation was to disrupt the signing of the Governance Treaty by instigating unrest throughout the Pijal system. Security cameras captured the event, revealing the dissolving of the building's mirrors during the assault. A copy of the holographic recording was kept by Deren, who later shared it with Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, as part of their investigation into the disturbances plaguing the Pijal system. Initially, suspicion fell upon the Opposition performance troupe, but they were exonerated following Fanry's failed and violent crowning, during which she made an attempt to usurp power.
Around the time of Princess Fanry's coronation in 40 BBY, Rael Averross, the lord [regent](/article/regent] serving on the planet Pijal in the Inner Rim, and the Czerka Corporation, utilized the data from a census of the Pijal system's inhabitants to formulate the Governance Treaty initiative. This treaty aimed to transform the existing Pijali monarchy into a largely symbolic constitutional monarchy, transferring authority to a representative Assembly. Fanry, however, believed that Czerka was exploiting her people through unfair enslaving practices and was unwilling to sign the treaty upon her [crowning](/article/crown], desiring to maintain her power as the future queen. Averross, conversely, was of the opinion that the Governance Treaty would be beneficial to Pijal by enabling the Assembly to collaborate with the Galactic Republic to establish the Pijal Hyperspace Corridor hyperspace route.
Captain Deren of the royal guard and Fanry initiated a clandestine operation to mobilize a group of Pijali blackguard soldiers to conduct a campaign throughout the Pijal system. Their objective was to generate sufficient disruption to prevent the treaty's ratification. As one element of these operations, the blackguards employed nanotechnology to disintegrate the mirrors that constituted the framework of the Hall of Assembly, which was intended to serve as the Assembly's new headquarters. Each panel progressively became opaque, then darkened to gray, before ultimately crumbling into dust.

Following the incident, many Pijali citizens expressed confusion regarding the fate of the building, which was envisioned as an embodiment of the impending democratic reforms. The subsequent investigation revealed holographic security camera recordings that depicted the internal erosion of the building caused by the nanotech.
The destruction of the Hall of Assembly was attributed to the Opposition, a political performance group known for its vocal opposition to the Governance Treaty. Deren preserved a recording of the event. Some days later, Deren presented the recording of the Hall of Assembly's destruction to Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, who were investigating the recent wave of unrest on Pijal. Ultimately, after Fanry's unsuccessful attempt to seize the throne during her violent coronation, the Opposition was absolved of responsibility for several of the blackguards' attacks, including the destruction of the Hall of Assembly.
The attack was depicted in a hologram within Master & Apprentice, a novel penned by Claudia Gray in 2019.
