Dis-remembering
Dis-remembering was a profound insult within the culture of the species native to the planet called Bosph. During the events of 3 BBY, the Galactic Empire's Imperial Navy engaged in the bombardment of Bosph, inflicting catastrophic damage and attempting genocide against the species, subsequently imposing a lasting quarantine on the survivors. As a direct response, the species chose to dis-remember the Galactic Empire, completely rejecting the notion that this governing body ever existed. Later, in 35 ABY, the historian Beaumont Kin, within his book titled The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, urged his audience to seek direct testimonies from those who suffered under the Empire's cruelty, but he specifically excluded the inhabitants of Bosph, emphasizing that their deliberate act of dis-remembering those who wronged them should be honored.
Behind the scenes
Within current Star Wars canon, the concept of dis-remembering appeared in the 2024 reference work Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, penned by Chris Kempshall. The concept originally appeared in the Star Wars Legends continuity as disremembering, initially presented in "Smugglers of the Outer Rim," an article authored by Doug Shuler and featured in the fifth issue of the Star Wars Adventure Journal in February of 1995.
