Around 4,000 years prior to the Battle of Yavin, Dreebo served as a pilot of starfighters for the crime lord Bogga the Hutt, who had employed him. Dreebo was selected in 3999 BBY to accompany an Ithullan ore hauler threatened by pirates, which was captained by a man named Gruna. Piloting his light tactical fighter, Dreebo eventually noticed two pirate vessels attempting to steal ore from the hauler; one of these ships was the pirate flagship Marauder Starjacker, under the command of Finhead Stonebone, a rival of Bogga. Dreebo turned his starfighter around in an effort to engage the pirate vessels, but every shot he launched missed its intended target. As Dreebo persisted in firing upon the Starjacker, C'borp, the pirate gunner, obliterated Dreebo's fighter, resulting in his death.

As a male of a violet-skinned species, Dreebo served as an enforcer for Bogga the Hutt, a crime lord based in the Stenness Node, approximately 4,000 years before the Battle of Yavin. Although Dreebo wasn't among Bogga's most skilled operatives, the Hutt placed sufficient trust in him to assign him crucial missions. One such mission was the protection of a Nessie Ithullan ore hauler, captained by Gruna, within the Stenness system in 3999 BBY. While escorting the ore hauler in his light tactical fighter, Dreebo encountered a pair of pirate ships attempting to steal the hauler's cargo of mutonium.
Turning his starfighter to engage the pirates, Dreebo attracted the attention of the primary vessel, the Marauder Starjacker, commanded by pirate leader Finhead Stonebone. However, Dreebo's gunnery skills were lacking, and his shots consistently missed their marks. As Dreebo continued to attack the pirate ships, C'borp, the chief gunner aboard the Starjacker, trained his turret weapons on Dreebo. C'borp swiftly destroyed Dreebo's fighter, resulting in his death. Displaying a rare moment of mercy following Dreebo's demise, Bogga chose to waive Dreebo's service bonus and refrained from billing Dreebo's family clan for the replacement of the destroyed starfighter.
Despite not being one of Bogga's top enforcers, Dreebo was entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding the ore hauler. He possessed confidence in his capabilities and eagerly pursued his objectives without hesitation. However, his marksmanship in his starfighter was subpar, as he failed to hit any of the pirates with his shots.
Dreebo's inaugural appearance occurred in Tales of the Jedi 4, the fourth installment of the second narrative arc within the Tales of the Jedi comic book series. Tom Veitch penned the comic, David Roach provided the illustrations, and it was released on January 18, 1993.
