The Marauder Starjacker, a heavily modified E-2 Asteroid Miner, served as the flagship of pirate Finhead Stonebone during the years leading up to the Great Sith War. Originally a standard mining vessel, the Starjacker, along with its counterpart, the Stenness Raider, fell into the hands of Stonebone's pirate gang prior to 3999 BBY. These ships were then extensively refitted to better facilitate ore raiding operations. In 3999 BBY, the Marauder Starjacker participated in a failed attack against an ore hauler under the command of Nessie captain Gruna. Although the Marauder Starjacker successfully disabled the hauler's defenses and began extracting its cargo of valuable mutonium ore, it was subsequently captured by the Enforcer One, the dreadnaught and flagship of crime lord Bogga the Hutt, who was protecting the ore hauler. The captured pirates were then presented before Bogga on Vo Dasha, where he coerced Stonebone into recovering a lost shipment of Adegan crystals from the desolate planet of Ambria, held by his adversary, Jedi Master Thon. Stonebone, leading a group of pirates and Hutt enforcers, journeyed to Ambria aboard the Marauder Starjacker, only to be defeated by Thon and his Jedi apprentice, Nomi Sunrider.

The ship, the Marauder Starjacker, was an E-2 Asteroid Miner produced by Byblos Drive Yards. Originally designed as a mining platform, the ship was equipped with mechanical arms for grappling asteroids, plasma drills for breaking them down, and suction tubes for collecting the resulting debris. However, under the command of the pirate Finhead Stonebone, the Starjacker was repurposed for illicit activities, namely the theft of ore from transport vessels. In this role, the pincers were employed to seize and immobilize targets, the drills to breach their hull, and the tubes to extract the ore. The Marauder Starjacker had a length of 110 meters, with a cargo capacity of 200 tons. To enhance its raiding capabilities, Stonebone replaced the Starjacker's original engines with Corellia StarDrive microthrusters. These upgrades were not the only alterations made to the ship; after acquiring the Starjacker, his engineers repositioned the plasma drills to the vessel's front, where they could be used as offensive weapons, with each drill powered by a trio of power generators. Furthermore, the prismatic drill crystals were modified to extend the weapons' range. While the drills lacked the range of conventional laser cannons, they possessed sufficient power to penetrate the hulls of Ithullan ore haulers.
Stonebone also implemented several other modifications to the ship's internal layout. His engineers reinforced the tips of the Starjacker's digging claws with monomolecular slicers, enabling them to cut through thick armor plating. The ship's filtering system was removed, as it would only be used to suck up pure ore, thus increasing the ship's cargo capacity by a third. The Marauder Starjacker's mining stations were also removed to create space for over one hundred raiders for boarding missions. Two maneuvering thrusters were positioned on the ship's upper hull near the engines at the rear. The bridge was located at the front of the Starjacker, featuring a rectangular viewport.
Originally, the Marauder Starjacker and its sister vessel, the Stenness Raider, served as ordinary E-2 mining vessels. When Captain Finhead Stonebone decided to begin raiding Ithullan ore haulers, constructed from the carapaces of colossus wasps, he recognized the potential utility of E-2s and sought to acquire them for his ore-raiding operations. Stonebone proceeded to attack a mining facility near the Varl system, seizing both the Marauder Starjacker and the Stenness Raider. His engineers then undertook extensive modifications to tailor them for ore raiding. Both E-2s were subsequently employed in raids against ore haulers. In 3999 BBY, the Marauder Starjacker participated in a failed attack on an Ithullan ore hauler commanded by Nessie captain Gruna. Despite the vessel being protected by local crime lord Bogga the Hutt, the Starjacker successfully reached the hauler and attached itself to its hull. Dreebo, one of Bogga's enforcers, attacked the Marauder Starjacker in his light tactical fighter, but C'borp, Stonebone's gunner, destroyed the starfighter with a well-aimed shot.

Finding the ore hauler without defenses, the Marauder Starjacker began to bore into the ship's hull. The Starjacker's suction tubes were deployed to extract the valuable mutonium ore, while a boarding party, including Stonebone and his first mate Roko, entered the gutted ore hauler to seize the remaining cargo. However, their success was short-lived; Bogga's flagship, the dreadnaught Enforcer One, arrived and captured both the Marauder Starjacker and the Stenness Raider with its tractor beam. The ships were brought into the Enforcer One's hangar, where Bogga's enforcer Grimorg took the pirates prisoner. The pirates were taken to Bogga's estate on the moon of Vo Dasha, where Bogga presented them before him. Bogga enlisted the pirates to travel to the desolate planet of Ambria to retrieve a lost shipment of Adegan crystals from Bogga's sworn enemy, Jedi Master Thon. Bogga sent some of his own men to accompany Stonebone and the pirates, and the group took the Marauder Starjacker and the Stenness Raider to the desolate planet of Ambria, where Thon was waiting. The pirate and enforcer gang parked the ships in low orbit, and then took sail barges onto the planet's surface. However, in a confrontation with Thon and his Jedi trainee Nomi Sunrider, the group was decimated and defeated, and the few survivors were forced to flee.
The captain of the Marauder Starjacker was the pirate Finhead Stonebone. Stonebone was the one who ordered the many modifications that were performed on the Starjacker to make it a better raiding ship. Stonebone was assisted on the Marauder Starjacker by his first mate and close friend Roko, who often joined the boarding team which went into targeted ships. The Marauder Starjacker had a crew of fourteen, with four gunners: one of these was C'borp, Stonebone's main gunner. The Marauder Starjacker also had a team of more than 100 raiders for boarding missions.
The Marauder Starjacker made its debut in Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi – The Saga of Nomi Sunrider, the second story arc of the Tales of the Jedi comic book series, written by Tom Veitch and published from late 1993 to early 1994. The Starjacker was featured in both the second and third and final issues of the arc. In these appearances, the Marauder Starjacker was illustrated by David Roach. Further details about the Marauder Starjacker were provided in Bill Smith's 1996 reference book The Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels and later that year in George R. Strayton's Tales of the Jedi Companion. The ship was also mentioned in an article in Star Wars Insider 26, and was included in the Star Wars Encyclopedia, A Guide to the Star Wars Universe, Third Edition, Revised and Expanded, and The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia.
