Bogga, a crime lord of the Hutt species, established his operations within the Stenness Node during the years preceding the Great Sith War. Leading a criminal empire that controlled the Stenness system, Bogga also commanded a notorious enforcer gang that instilled fear across the region. In 3999 BBY, intelligence reached Bogga regarding the arrival of a Jedi Knight at the Stenness Hyperspace Terminal, his usual haunt, who possessed valuable Adegan crystals. Driven by the desire to acquire these precious stones, Bogga dispatched several of his enforcers to seize them. The confrontation that followed resulted in the death of the Jedi Knight, Andur Sunrider, during the ensuing struggle, compelling his wife, Nomi, to wield his lightsaber. Nomi struck down two of Bogga's henchmen and prevented the third from obtaining the crystals. Undeterred, Bogga pursued the woman aboard his sail barge to the remote planet of Ambria, where she intended to deliver the jewels to Thon, a Jedi Master and Bogga's sworn adversary. However, Bogga's plans were once again thwarted when Thon, along with his apprentice, Oss Wilum, successfully defeated the Hutt and his crew.
Subsequently, Bogga retreated to his stronghold located on the moon of Vo Dasha, but his determination to exact revenge on Thon and acquire the Adegan crystals remained unwavering. In the interim, Bogga provided a security detail to safeguard an Ithullian ore hauler that faced the threat of attack by pirates. After the pirates were defeated, their leader, a being known as Finhead Stonebone, was captured and brought to Vo Dasha in chains. Bogga offered to spare Stonebone's life, but only if Stonebone agreed to travel to Ambria, assassinate Thon, and retrieve the crystals. Stonebone accepted the proposition and departed for Ambria. Nevertheless, this third attempt to secure the crystals met the same fate as the previous two, as Thon and the newly trained Jedi Nomi Sunrider defeated Stonebone in a pitched battle.

Born on Nal Hutta, the planet of the Hutt species, Bogga rose to prominence as a powerful and feared crime lord in the years leading up to the Great Sith War. He primarily operated from the Stenness system, situated in the Inner Rim Territories. Bogga also assembled a group of gangsters, pirates, and thugs that terrorized the space under his control. At its peak, the Hutt's criminal empire extended across six parsecs in all directions. Bogga maintained a private residence on Vo Dasha, the Stenness moon, and frequently visited the Stenness Hyperspace Terminal space station.
At one point in time, Bogga journeyed to the desolate Stenness Node planet Ambria, where he discovered a hssiss dragon within a lake saturated with the dark side. He named the beast Ktriss and adopted it as his pet and familiar, often employing her to intimidate his enemies or subordinates who had disappointed him. In 3999 BBY, Bogga's gang members informed him that a starship en route to Ambria with a shipment of valuable Adegan crystals had made a stop at the Stenness Hyperspace Terminal. Bogga believed he could not miss this opportunity, as he had a client willing to pay a substantial sum for the crystals, and the influx of capital could potentially enable him to conquer several star systems closer to the Core Worlds. He instructed three of his underlings, Gudb, Quanto, and Rek, to retrieve the cargo. However, the Hutt cautioned them to exercise caution, as the ship, the Lightside Explorer, was owned and operated by Andur Sunrider, a Jedi Knight.
Bogga's thugs accosted Sunrider in the docking bay of the Stenness Hyperspace Terminal, where the Jedi was accompanied by his wife, Nomi; his baby daughter, Vima; and his protocol droid, A-3DO. While Rek and Quanto distracted Sunrider, Gudb unleashed his pet gorm worm, Skritch, who fatally bit the Jedi on the neck. Grief-stricken, Nomi seized her fallen husband's lightsaber and slew Quanto and Rek, forcing Gudb to flee back to Bogga without the crystals. Bogga gathered the remainder of his enforcers and pursued the Lightside Explorer aboard his sail barge, the Twilight Sailer.

The pursuit led Bogga and his crew to Ambria, where Sunrider had sought out Thon, a Jedi Master. While hovering above Ambria, Bogga threatened to have Ktriss kill and devour Gudb, before granting Gudb another chance and dispatching him with a team of enforcers to the surface of Ambria to retrieve the crystals, while he remained in orbit. The enforcers boarded the Lightside Explorer, only to discover that the Adegan crystals were not on board. However, Gudb learned that the prize was located at Master Thon's compound, along with Nomi Sunrider.
Gudb relayed this information to Bogga, who ordered his convoy to proceed to Thon's compound. Upon arriving at Thon's home, Bogga noticed a herd of staga beasts and instructed his subordinates to slaughter the animals for food. As Bogga and his lackeys engaged in their task, they were confronted by a lone Jedi, Oss Wilum, a Vultan and Thon's Padawan. Overwhelmed by their numbers, Wilum was swiftly defeated, and Bogga ordered Gudb to execute the Jedi. Suddenly, Gudb was interrupted by a large beast—revealed to be Thon himself—who attacked and decimated Bogga's group. Realizing their slim chances of survival, Bogga's crew fled the scene.

Some time after the unsuccessful raid on Ambria, Bogga received a substantial payment from Gruna, the captain of an Ithullian ore hauler, to protect his ship from pirates. Bogga dispatched a security detail that was put to work when the ship came under attack by ore raiders. However, the pirates quickly and easily eliminated Bogga's henchmen. The pirates were led by Finhead Stonebone. Although the pirates thought they had captured the vessel, Bogga's enforcers surprised them by emerging from hyperspace in the Hutt's dreadnaught, Enforcer One. The group captured Stonebone and his ship, the Marauder Starjacker, and transported them to Vo Dasha, Bogga's private moon. At the time, Bogga was seated on his throne alongside Ktriss, scolding Gudb for failing to obtain the Adegan crystals. Upon receiving word that the pirates had been brought to Vo Dasha, Bogga ordered his servants to bring Stonebone and the other pirates before him. Bogga initially threatened Stonebone, but then offered to overlook his crimes if he killed Thon and retrieved the crystals. However, Stonebone refused. An enraged Bogga decided to unleash Ktriss on the prisoners, and the beast devoured Roko, Stonebone's First Mate.
As Ktriss consumed Roko's remains, Stonebone decided to accept Bogga's offer. Pleased by Stonebone's submission, the Hutt instructed the pirate to carry out his mission immediately. Bogga also ordered Gudb to accompany them and provided him with chains capable of subduing even a Jedi. Finhead Stonebone, along with a group of his pirate associates and several of Bogga's enforcers, traveled to Ambria, where they infiltrated Thon's compound and retrieved the Adegan crystals. However, on their return to their ship, Thon and trainee Nomi Sunrider interrupted the group. Stonebone and the pirates were promptly attacked and driven off by the two Jedi. Stonebone limped back to Bogga without the Adegan crystals, with Thon suspecting that Bogga would further humiliate the pirates for their failure.

Bogga was a ruthless and unscrupulous Hutt who made his living through criminal activities. He commanded the respect of his enforcers and instilled widespread fear throughout the Stenness Node. However, he would quickly berate and threaten his subordinates if they failed him in any way. Bogga respected the abilities of the Jedi Knights, but he did not hesitate to order Gudb to kill Andur Sunrider. The Hutt often began sentences in his native Huttese language. Additionally, Bogga frequently referred to himself in the third person. He developed an obsession with Andur Sunrider's Adegan crystals and sanctioned repeated missions to retrieve them at any cost. He also harbored a deep and unrelenting hatred for Master Thon, referring to him as a "lowly beast" and ordering Finhead Stonebone to kill him. Bogga doted on his pet, Ktriss, who was almost always by his side. The crime lord frequently threatened to unleash Ktriss on both his enemies and subordinates who had failed him. Bogga preferred to be addressed with ornate and elaborate titles, such as "Great and Well-Proportioned Bogga" or simply "Great Bogga." He also referred to himself as "The Merciful One" and saw a compassionate side to himself. As a result, Bogga decided to spare Finhead Stonebone, despite his hatred for Stonebone's pirate gang.
Bogga smoked from a hookah pipe. Bogga possessed the sail barge Twilight Sailer and the dreadnought Enforcer One.
Bogga made his first appearance in the third issue of the Tales of the Jedi comic book series, which was written by Tom Veitch, illustrated by Janine Johnston, and published by Dark Horse Comics on December 21, 1993. In the 1995 Tales of the Jedi audio drama, based on the comics written by Veitch and adapted by John Whitman, Bogga was voiced by Bud Thorpe.
