The Stenness Node was a collection of three mining systems within the Inner Rim, also referred to as the Stenness worlds, Stenness systems, or just the Stenness system. This Node was the original homeland to twenty-five humanoid species, collectively known as "Nessies." The Rig, a space station, could be found nestled within an asteroid field in this region. The Node consisted of seven inhabited mining planets, such as Ithull, Taboon, and Kamsul. Ambria was located at the center of the Node, along with an asteroid field.
The Stenness Node was the designation given by the Republic Survey Team, but the correct name of the region was a point of contention, with some referring to it as the Stenness Systems. The Senate was even involved in this naming dispute.
Before the Great Sith War, the Hutt crime lord Bogga held significant power within the Stenness Node. He frequently resided at the Stenness Hyperspace Terminal when not in his headquarters on the moon of Vo Dasha. For a substantial price, the Hutt's enslaved minions and the modified Core Galaxy Systems Dreadnaught called Enforcer One offered protection to the Nessies and their mining endeavors from pirate attacks, such as those led by Finhead Stonebone and his band of ruthless criminals.
Many years later, Han Solo and Salla Zend engaged in spice smuggling within the system. By 0 BBY, the Hutt crimelord BolBol was known to have near-total control of the Node.
While the original spelling of the node was "Stenness Node," later sources sometimes incorrectly spelled it as "Stennes Node" and "Steness Node."
According to the Tales of the Jedi Companion, the Onderon system was located within the Stenness Node. However, the actual comic appearances of the planet state that it was "the other side of the galaxy" from the Node. This mistake was also made in the Star Wars Gamer 1 article titled The University of Sanbra Guide to Intelligent Life: The Marvel Series, which incorrectly grouped the Ambria, Amar and Onderon systems as being within the Node. Of those three systems mentioned in the Star Wars Gamer article, only the Ambria system is confirmed by other sources to be part of the Node.[9][2]_
HoloNet News Vol. 531 46 mentions the "Stenness Data Node," but does not provide further details about it.
