Chiss uniform
Attire of the Chiss, specifically those serving in the Ascendancy military, included a specific type of clothing. These uniforms were standard issue for personnel within both the Chiss Defense Force and the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet.
Description
The uniforms of the Chiss featured shoulder patches displaying the emblem of the wearer's respective Chiss family. Additionally, insignia pins were affixed to the collar to signify the individual's military rank. A military shoulder belt, alongside a utility belt holding a comlink, were also integral components. Cadets differed in that they lacked the rank-denoting pins due to their absence of official rank, although the family shoulder patch remained.
For cadets and officers below the flag rank of Commodore, Chiss uniforms were black. Advancement to flag officer status resulted in the severing of family ties, symbolized by the Supreme Admiral's declaration: "The Ascendancy is your family." Consequently, these officers were issued new white uniforms featuring the symbol of the Chiss Ascendancy on their shoulder patch. Similar to those of lower rank, these white uniforms also included insignia pins indicating military rank. Notably, Eli Vanto, a rare human alien serving the Chiss Ascendancy, also wore a black uniform adorned with the Ascendancy's family shoulder patch. Designed to absorb energy, the uniforms incorporated armor plating, thus providing protection against blaster fire. A holster for a charric was positioned on the right hip, while another on the left held a combat stick.
History
During his investigations conducted on Batuu, Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo donned a black uniform distinguished by a burgundy shoulder patch and collar insignia pins. This uniform demonstrated its ability to absorb a significant portion of blaster bolt energy, which impressed the Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker. The burgundy patch displayed the sunrise insignia of Thrawn's Mitth family, while the silver insignia pins indicated his rank of Senior Captain.
