E1-6RA

title: E1-6RA

E1-6RA, also known as Era (a name used exclusively by her master, Lanius Qel-Bertuk), and affectionately called E1-6 or Ee-One (by virtually everyone else), served as the administrative droid stationed at the Almas Academy. Notably, E1-6RA's programming was designed to emulate feminine characteristics.

Biography

Her physical form was assembled using components scavenged from various droid models. Her core design resembled that of a protocol droid, featuring blaster-scarred bronze plating. However, she possessed a unique modification: an additional pair of arms attached to her main body just above her waistline. The extremities of these arms were equipped with tool mounts, capable of accommodating a diverse array of instruments.

Throughout her operational lifespan, she had been owned by numerous individuals. One of her previous masters, a smuggler, outfitted E1 with a peculiar piece of technology: an extraterrestrial device originating from beyond the Outer Rim. This device enabled E1 to intercept telepathic communications and convert them into comprehensible signals. The smuggler intended to conceal the device from authorities, but his efforts were unsuccessful, leading to his arrest.

E1-6RA also incorporated a heuristic processor, which she utilized to evolve into a versatile, multi-functional droid capable of mastering new tasks. Ironically, due to a comedy program that was later overwritten, she was known for attempting to tell jokes that were consistently unfunny.

At one juncture, E1-6RA became part of a family's household. Jedi Master Lanius Qel-Bertuk encountered this family when one of their younger members enrolled as a student at the Almas Academy. Qel-Bertuk subsequently acquired E1-6RA and brought her to Culria. She quickly became an indispensable asset at the Almas Academy, which was under Qel-Bertuk's leadership.

E1's communication style was characterized by complex sentences and formal diction. While Master Lanius appreciated E1-6RA's attempts at humor, others often responded with groans. Tarasin's religious leader, Mother Missira, who earnestly sought to establish a friendly rapport with E1-6RA, found her jokes particularly baffling. E1-6RA held a strong sense of loyalty towards Lanius and the Jedi, considering it the most fulfilling service she had ever experienced.

In 31 BBY, Master Qel-Bertuk became aware of extensive disappearances occurring in Gadrin and Hedrett. Simultaneously, he sensed a disturbance emanating from Cularin. Consequently, he dispatched E1-6RA, his administrative droid, to Cularin with instructions to locate someone who could investigate the situation. Independent agents uncovered the reason behind the disappearances, although it remains uncertain whether they communicated their findings to E1-6RA.

The missing individuals had actually joined the Cularin resistance in an effort to gather evidence of the Metatheran Cartel's illicit activities on the planet and ultimately expel them. They eventually succeeded in their objective. In response, the Cartel held its envoy, Velin Wir, accountable for the transgressions and dispatched a new envoy, Thurm Loogg, to request permission to maintain their presence on the planet. Governor Barnab Chistor of Gadrin delegated the decision to a vote. Some Padawans present at the celebration abstained from voting, despite expectations that the Jedi Order would vote as a unified bloc. Master Lanius refrained from direct involvement but sent E1-6RA as his representative.

Behind the scenes

At the conclusion of The Resistance Within, player characters have the option of informing E1-6RA about their discoveries regarding the disappearances, or withholding that information. They can also request Jedi negotiators to mediate the situation. These decisions were solicited in the Critical Event Summary of The Resistance Within to establish the majority decision of the submitted summaries as canon. This decision is subsequently referenced in the following adventure, A Revelation.
