Earth
The Star Tours travel company included Earth, a planet, in its itineraries sometime between 1 BBY and 0 BBY. From the vantage point of space, it was clear that oceans covered a significant portion of Earth's surface, with landmasses making up the remainder, and a layer of clouds formed a white covering around the world. Earth was connected to other planets such as Coruscant, Kashyyyk, Naboo, Hoth, Geonosis, and Tatooine via the Star Tours spaceline. Before Star Tours ceased operations, Earth also served as a central point for flights to Endor around 4.3 ABY. It was divided into numerous nation-states, and the Intergalactic Passport was not a valid form of identification for entry into any of them.
History

The Star Tours interstellar travel agency had established regular routes connecting Earth to Kashyyyk, Tatooine, Coruscant, Naboo, Hoth, and the first Death Star at some point between 1 BBY and 0 BBY.
Abduction to Urthha
According to a report in the Galactic Gossip, Humans abducted a newlywed Duros couple, Etro and Droza Edthatt, and transported them to a planet they called Urthha. The Duros required aural synchronizers to comprehend the language spoken by these Humans. The Duros were brought to a "party," which involved Earth Humans in various uniforms gathering around containers of liquid. The locals scrutinized the Duros at the party, led them to a table, and compelled them to eat food that resembled office supplies from the Vretha system. After offending the hostess by stamping the food, Etro Edthatt developed collard lesions from eating a potato, which frightened the Humans. The Edthatts, left alone, sought refuge in the freezer.
The Edthatts spent the rest of their time on Urthha bouncing on antennas, reading vegetables, and choking books and paintings (which were more compliant than what they were accustomed to). After more than four solar periods of these strange experiences, the couple was unable to find their way back home or locate suitable scratching objects. Fortunately, a young Human who stopped by to throw stacks of folded paper at the residence assisted them in their return. After losing to them in a professional-level game of Twister, he helped the Edthatts use a matter catalyst (a common household device on Urthha known locally as a "blender") to get back home.
Indiana Jones

Earth, the home planet of Doctor Indiana Jones, had at least one [moon](/article/moon-legends] orbiting it, a considerable amount of surface water, and a forest resembling that of Endor.
A tribe of Humans resided in the forest, employing primitive combat technologies such as spears, [bows](/article/bow-legends], and axes. After the Millennium Falcon made a crash landing in the forest, the tribe members killed Han Solo with arrows, and they began referring to Chewbacca as "Sasquatch." A hundred and twenty-six years later, they guided Doctor Jones and Shorty to the wreckage of the ship.
Atlantis was among the planet's other notable locations, which Jones had explored before his encounter with the Falcon.
The President of the United States
The leader of a nation-state on Earth, holding the title "President of the United States," declared that his government would not construct a [Death Star](/article/death_star-legends], despite numerous requests from Earth's citizens. While his administration cited financial considerations, Galactic Empire Public Relations officials attributed the decision to cowardice in the face of Imperial military dominance in a statement issued by the Galactic Empire. Admiral Conan Antonio Motti commented that the President's cost estimates for the Death Star were "ridiculously" inflated, even for a planet lacking the Empire's industrial capabilities. Imperial officials also stated that Earth's claims of significant flaws in the Death Star's design were exaggerated, and they cautioned "seditious elements within the Imperial Senate" to disregard these claims.
The Galactic Empire Public Relations statement used disparaging terms to describe Earth, calling it "tiny," "aggressive," and "unimaginatively named." Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin was quoted as saying that a "primitive" planet like Earth would only disrupt galactic peace with a Death Star, unlike an "enlightened" leader such as Galactic Emperor Palpatine.
Behind the scenes
The image of Earth used on Disney's website for Star Tours: The Adventures Continue is The Blue Marble, a NASA creation that was the most detailed true-color image of the entire Earth as of 2002. Although technically set in a galaxy far, far away from the Milky Way galaxy, Earth appeared in some Expanded Universe materials before the Disney acquisition. An early instance was The Star Wars Intergalactic Passport, which stated that it was not a valid passport for international travel on Earth.
The opening crawl shown during the grand opening of Star Tours: The Adventures Continue at Disney Hollywood Studios mentioned the "Earth system." The system's name also suggested that the planet's name was Earth, which was later confirmed on the Star Tours: The Adventures Continue destinations section of the official Disneyland website.
Earth's use in Star Tours: The Adventures Continue followed its appearance in several works considered non-canon within the Legends continuity.
A planet named Urthha was featured in Monsters and Aliens from George Lucas. This book combined photos and concept art from the original trilogy and other Lucasfilm productions with short fiction pieces and includes two notable references to Earth. One of these is a supermarket tabloid parody attributed to Trebor Uarrac of Galactic Gossip, where two Duros newlyweds named Etro and Droza Edthatt are "abducted by human beings" from the planet "Urthha." The story includes a photo of the Edthatts, originally a production photo from Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The Duros in the original photo were canonically identified as Chachi De Maal and Ohwun De Maal. Monsters and Aliens from George Lucas is not part of Star Wars Legends, making these stories non-canonical in that continuity. No official source has ever explicitly confirmed that Urthha and Earth are the same planet.
Another instance was "Into the Great Unknown," a comic story published in Star Wars Tales 19. "Into the Great Unknown" featured Earth, although its name was not directly mentioned. It was a crossover between the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises, both developed by George Lucas and written by Lucasfilm, and both featured Harrison Ford in a role (as Han Solo and the titular protagonist, respectively). The specific location on the planet was the Pacific Northwest, which was used as the film setting for Endor in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, subtly referenced by Han Solo's comment that the forest he crash-landed in resembled Endor. Additionally, Chewbacca being called Sasquatch referenced how Peter Mayhew, Chewbacca's actor, had to be accompanied by crew members wearing bright vests while in costume to avoid being mistaken for Sasquatch (also known as Bigfoot) by people who stumbled upon the filming set. The comic's events referenced both Star Wars and Indiana Jones, including Dr. Jones' reference to Atlantis, indicating that the comic took place after the events of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.
The most recent significant appearance of Earth was in the Star Wars Blog post "Planet Earth Abandons Death Star Project In Face Of Galactic Imperial Power." This blog article, concerning Earth's decision to abandon plans to build a Death Star, responded to a statement from the actual U.S. White House regarding a petition submitted through the U.S. government's "We the People" petition website, which had garnered 34,435 signatures. The tongue-in-cheek statement, titled "This Isn't the Petition You're Looking For" (referencing Obi-Wan Kenobi's famous line "These aren't the droids you're looking for" when using the Mind trick), estimated the cost of constructing a Death Star at $850,000,000,000,000,000 and noted that the administration did not support destroying planets. At the time, a minimum of 25,000 signatures was required, though this was later increased to 100,000, largely in response to such petitions, which were seen as frivolous. The Star Wars Blog staff responded to the White House announcement as if it were an in-universe breaking report from an Imperial perspective.
