Eckhorn Baliss, an Alderaanian noble from House Baliss, operated as a spy for the reconstituted Sith Empire during the Great Galactic War against the Galactic Republic. Functioning as a Republic official, this Human male carefully observed his fellow government members. He eventually created a list, hidden within his house's estate, containing the names of Republic individuals who were sympathetic to the Empire and could potentially be turned into double agents. However, one of these individuals—the husband of Senator Verre Sydia, who was secretly an Imperial agent unknown to Baliss—contracted the bounty hunter Terrin Sandafar to kill Baliss.
Sandafar, acting in her characteristic manner, assassinated Baliss in 3663 BBY by causing his ship to explode above Alderaan, his homeworld. This seemingly accidental event later became the subject of an investigation by Shafu, a former slaver, on behalf of Jedi Master Ven Zallow. Sandafar also killed Shafu; however, both deaths were investigated by the Jedi Knight known as the Hero of Tython and the astromech droid T7-O1.
The character of Eckhorn Baliss was initially referenced in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a 2011 BioWare massively multiplayer online role-playing video game. He is discussed in several conversations involving T7-O1, who is a companion character to the Jedi Knight.
