Electro-pulse

An electro-pulse was a portable electromagnetic pulse weapon, designed to neutralize machinery upon physical contact, held in the hand. The device was a rectangular, brown object, characterized by multiple buttons and a gold ring situated on its top surface. In 1 BBY, after arriving on Heva during his hunt to locate the Sith Lord Darth Vader, the cyborg bounty hunter Beilert Valance brought an electro-pulse with him. His reasoning was that Vader, being a cyborg as well, could be disabled through disruption of his cybernetics.

During the confrontation between Valance and his team with the Sith Lord, Valance capitalized on the deaths of Chio Fain, the slicer, and Honnah, the tracker, to shorten the distance between them and activate the electro-pulse. Although Valance successfully attached the device to Vader's cape, he was unable to activate it in time, as the Sith unexpectedly turned and caught the bounty hunter unprepared.
