In the year 231 BBY, Operation Counterstrike saw the Galactic Republic confronted the Nihil pirates in the Dreighton Nebula. This operation represented the response of both the Republic and the Jedi Order to the devastation that the Nihil had brought upon the Outer Rim planet of Valo during the Republic Fair. Ultimately, the Republic Defense Coalition emerged victorious from this battle. Later that year, prior to the Battle of Galov, Avar Kriss, the Jedi marshal stationed at the space station Starlight Beacon, provided an update during a briefing. She informed the Jedi and members of the defense coalition about the situation with Operation Counterstrike, referencing the battle with the Nihil within the Dreighton Nebula.
The High Republic: Tempest Runner, an audio drama from 2021 penned by Cavan Scott, included references to the Dreighton Nebula engagement in flashback sequences. This audio drama was released as part of Phase I of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia initiative.
