Expedition to Gloam

An exploration mission to Gloam was conducted by the Republic Pathfinder group, specifically Outer Rim Expedition Two-Five-Two, circa 382 BBY. This team was dispatched to Aubadas, the twin planet of Gloam, responding to a plea from the indigenous Katikoot of that planet who needed help in securing a lasting energy supply. This was necessary because diplomatic personnel were unavailable because of the ongoing Eiram and E'ronoh War. Given the Katikoot faced an impending energy shortage, Jedi Master Rok Buran, who was the head of the Pathfinder team's, chose to look into the abandoned mines of Gloam. His goal was to assess if they could be temporarily reactivated to support the Katikoot until an engineering team from the Galactic Republic could arrive. The mines were deserted due to stories of mythical monsters living on Gloam, and Buran wanted to determine the truth of these tales. Rillik, a Katikoot guide, went with the team. However, Rillik, suffering from the miner's curse and motivated by greed, betrayed the Pathfinders, as he was the one who originally unleashed the monsters. He deceived them, leading them into an ancient city that was infested with the monsters. He then retreated, destroyed the Pathfinders' starship, the Foundling, and went back to Aubadas in a pre-arranged mining vessel, fabricating a story of an attack. Buran, initially left for dead, was the only survivor from his team.
