Fall of Vinsoth
In the year 138 ABY, the planet of Vinsoth was overtaken by the military forces serving Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire. After regaining control of his Imperial throne, which had been seized by another, Lord Krayt initiated a renewed offensive against his adversaries, and Vinsoth—located within the boundaries of Emperor Roan Fel's Empire-in-exile but in close proximity to Krayt's domain—became a target. Krayt's Sith–Imperial forces achieved victory on the planet, leading to growing frustration for Fel regarding his enemy's military prowess.
Prelude
During the Second Imperial Civil War in 138 ABY, the ousted Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Krayt made his return to Coruscant, the galactic capital world, with the intention of reclaiming his position as the supreme leader of both the One Sith and the Galactic Empire. With the support of Sith warriors who remained loyal to him, along with an army comprised of specialized Sith troopers, he spearheaded an attack against Coruscant's Temple of the Sith and eliminated Darth Wyyrlok, the one who had taken his place. Following the successful completion of his objective, Krayt declared his intention to reignite the war against all those who stood against his Empire.
The fall
The Empire's military initiated numerous campaigns against Krayt's foes, including an assault on the planet of Vinsoth. This world was under the jurisdiction of Roan Fel's Empire-in-exile, the former Galactic Emperor, but was situated on the periphery of his territory. Fel's armed forces were defeated in the ensuing conflict, resulting in the Sith–Imperials taking control of Vinsoth.
Aftermath
Vinsoth's loss was a key event that contributed to various factions across the galaxy yielding to the power of Lord Krayt. Emperor Fel lamented the casualties and resource depletion his Empire suffered at Vinsoth and other battlegrounds, leading to a weakening of his overall military presence. When Darth Maladi, a Sith Lady who was held as a prisoner on Bastion, Fel's fortress world, offered to synthesize a toxin capable of exterminating all life on a planet, Fel contemplated employing the weapon against the seemingly unstoppable Sith.
Behind the scenes
The event of Vinsoth falling to Darth Krayt's Empire was referenced in the second issue of the comic miniseries titled Star Wars: Legacy—War. The writing for the issue was done by John Ostrander and Jan Duursema, and it was published by Dark Horse Comics on January 26, 2011.
