Falthina Sharest

Falthina Sharest was a human female who worked as an emigration officer for the Corellian Security Forces. During the time that the Galactic Empire was in power, CorSec was effectively working as an extension of the Imperial forces stationed on Corellia. In this capacity, Sharest held the position of Lead Transport Security Officer located in Coronet Spaceport.

Biography

It is known that Falthina Sharest had at least one sibling, specifically a sister. By the year 13 BBY, Sharest's place of employment was a booth within Coronet Spaceport on the planet Corellia. The nature of her job involved opening security gates for travelers either departing from or arriving on Corellia. Sharest deeply disliked her occupation, finding it incredibly boring, a sentiment echoed by her grandmother who described it as being as exciting as an old milk knife. Her aspiration was to leave Corellia and explore other planets, with the intention of only returning to visit her sister.

Qi'ra offered Sharest a bribe of coaxium.

On one particular day, two individuals known as Han and Qi'ra, both with criminal backgrounds, approached her and proposed a bribe. They offered her a vial containing coaxium in return for being allowed to pass through the security gate. Sharest pointed out that the mere possession of the vial was grounds for their arrest. Han countered by saying that arresting them would not benefit anyone. Eventually, she conceded to let them pass, but only if they surrendered the coaxium before the gate was opened. Qi'ra was hesitant to agree to these terms, suggesting instead a simultaneous exchange. However, the imminent arrival of members of the White Worms gang prompted Han to urge her to comply. Qi'ra relented and handed over the coaxium, after which Sharest opened the gate. As Han went through the gate, Qi'ra was seized by the White Worms gang, who were led by the Grindalid thug Moloch.

Simultaneously, Sharest decided to trigger a security alert, effectively nullifying her agreement to allow the pair to pass without incident. Officer Sharest then proceeded to lock the gate, separating Han from Qi'ra. Despite Han's desperate pleas for her to reopen the gate, she ignored him and instead focused on alerting the spaceport authorities about an unauthorized traveler.

Personality and traits

Sharest was opportunistic and apathetic towards most travelers she encountered.

Falthina Sharest, a human female, had a height of 1.63 meters and possessed brown eyes. During the reign of the Galactic Empire, Sharest had dark hair. As a Lead Transport Security Officer stationed at Coronet Spaceport, Sharest was known to confiscate contraband from travelers who were either unfortunate or foolish, and she would sometimes accept bribes if the potential reward was significant. An example of this was when Han and Qi'ra offered her a vial of valuable coaxium. This behavior was partly motivated by her dislike for her job.

Sharest's personality was adaptable, changing depending on the situation. She expressed concern when Han and Qi'ra attempted to bribe her with coaxium, acknowledging the potential consequences they faced for possessing it. She ultimately allowed them passage out of Corellia. However, when Moloch and the White Worms moved to abduct Qi'ra, taking her to their den to punish her for treason, Sharest callously abandoned the young woman to her fate, closing the gate and reporting her as an unauthorized traveler, disregarding Han's requests to reopen the gate. Despite these flaws, Sharest was not entirely without compassion, as she cared for her family and planned to leave Corellia to explore the galaxy, but intended to return to visit her sister.

Behind the scenes

The character of Falthina Sharest was played by Anna Francolini in the 2018 Star Wars Anthology film Solo: A Star Wars Story. Her identity was first revealed in the companion reference book Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide, authored by Pablo Hidalgo.

In the first issue of the Marvel Comics' comic book adaptation of the film, Sharest's dialogue is abridged. Furthermore, she does not express concern for Han and Qi'ra, nor does she report Qi'ra to the spaceport authorities as an unauthorized traveler in this version.
