Farnay was a Devaronian female, the offspring of Kivas. Not long after the Battle of Yavin, Luke Skywalker, a rebel who had crash-landed close to Tikaroo, had his Y 4 BTL-S3 Y-wing Starfighter repaired by Kivas. Despite her wish to escort Luke to the Temple of Eedit, Sarco Plank proved more persuasive. She cautioned Luke about Sarco's malevolent nature and discreetly followed them. Several days afterwards, an Imperial Sentinel-class landing craft touched down in the settlement, carrying eight Imperial stormtroopers along with a major. They inquired about a rebel and his Y-wing; when Farnay's father revealed the truth, they took her captive and proceeded to the Temple of Eedit. Once at the temple, Sarco and Luke killed all of the Imperials and affected her rescue. However, Sarco then intended to eliminate Luke as well. She aided Luke in defeating Sarco, and subsequently, they journeyed back to Tikaroo. Following the Battle of Endor, Luke Skywalker revisited Devaron to see Farnay. C-3PO remarked that she had become a "capable young woman" by that time.
Some fans speculated that Farnay might be the mother of Rey, the protagonist of the sequel trilogy, a notion that greatly surprised author Jason Fry.
