First Temple

The First Temple, also referred to as the Jedi Praxeum, was a Jedi Order establishment situated on the planet Ossus within the Outer Rim Territories. Mosaics from the temple were recovered and incorporated into the Order's newer headquarters located on Coruscant, the galactic [capital](/article/capital] world. It was once thought that the Ossus temple was the original Jedi Temple, the site where the Force-sensitive Great Tree first stood.

History

The quasi-historical Qel-Droma Epics state that the praxeum was constructed to accommodate Jedi pilgrims in search of the Eye of Ashlanae. It evolved into a hub of knowledge and support for Jedi defending the oppressed in the Outer Rim. At one point, the praxeum housed the largest single collection of Jedi knowledge, stored in scrolls, holocrons, and other artifacts. Jedi Master Odan-Urr received his training there from Jedi Master Ooroo, who oversaw the facility until his demise during the Great Hyperspace War. The education of Jedi Padawans persisted at the praxeum for another millennium, until the Cron Supernova obliterated the city of Knossa. At some point, the temple's mosaic floors were salvaged and used within the Order's newer headquarters on the galactic capital world of Coruscant.

Layout

According to the Qel-Droma Epics, the praxeum was designed as a five-level ziggurat, with each level dedicated to a value of the Jedi. The uppermost level, Knowledge, served as the repository for the most prized artifacts and texts. Below it was the level of Harmony, which housed the Masters' council chamber, diplomatic offices, and meditation chambers. The Serenity level was designated for dormitories, enhanced by meditative balconies, pools, and gardens. The Peace level was the designated area where Jedi engaged in combat training. Finally, the ground level symbolized the Force and was used exclusively for training students in the manipulation of this mystical energy field.
