Ooroo was a Jedi Master of male identity, and his existence is documented within the celebrated Qel-Droma Epics. The myths recount that Ooroo was in charge of the Jedi Praxeum situated on the planet of Ossus, where he mentored the Jedi known as Odan-Urr. He participated in the Great Hyperspace War against the forces of the Sith Empire, but met his death during that war.
The Ooroo Canyon, believed to be located on Ossus, was named in honor of this Jedi Master. To fulfill a promise made to Ooroo, Odan-Urr supervised the construction of the Great Jedi Library at the canyon's location.

Within the current Star Wars canon, the initial reference to Ooroo appears in Nexus of Power, a 2016 sourcebook created for the Star Wars: Force and Destiny roleplaying game by Fantasy Flight Games. In Star Wars Legends continuity, Ooroo's debut was in Tales of the Jedi – The Golden Age of the Sith 0, a comic authored by Kevin J. Anderson, with illustrations by Dario Carrasco, Jr., and released by Dark Horse Comics on July 1 of 1996.
