Force artifact

RodOfSeasonsPathOfDeceit The Rod of Seasons

An object that was either related to or empowered by the Force was known as a Force artifact. Several kinds of these artifacts existed, such as dark side artifacts, Sith artifacts, and also Jedi artifacts.

Description

Items either infused or imbued with the Force were called Force artifacts. By the time the High Republic Era had arrived, the Jedi elders had come to recognize three distinct categories of Force artifacts. The first category consisted of artifacts holding the memories and personalities of previous Force users, which were designated as Force containers. Secondly, there were artifacts designed to amplify a Force user's capabilities with the Force. Finally, there were artifacts that served to weaken or limit a Force user's abilities, known as Force dampeners.

History

In 382 BBY, the Force cult known as the Path of the Open Hand was in the process of gathering Force artifacts, supposedly to prevent their "misuse." In 230 BBY, it was thought that four mysterious idols that were found on an Amaxine space station were Force containers. However, after the Jedi Cohmac Vitus and Orla Jareni removed the protective Force sheath surrounding them, it came to light that they were actually Force dampeners. They had been used to confine an evil entity aboard the station. This evil manifested as the Drengir, a sentient plant species strongly connected to the Dark side of the Force. The idols were later returned to their original location before being destroyed soon after to resolve the chaotic situation occurring on the station. The Jedi released the Drengir, allowing them to attack the Nihil.

During the New Republic Era, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker and Lor San Tekka from the Church of the Force embarked on several expeditions to find artifacts and relics linked to the Force. They successfully acquired a diverse collection of Force artifacts, which included books, tomes, papers, data cards, ritual objects, power sigils and symbols, and technological items, including several lightsabers.
