Frigosians were a sentient species originating from the planet called Tansyl 5. Due to their smaller stature compared to the average humanoid, and their light-sensitive eyes, they required goggles for protection in specific environments. One Frigosian, Opeepit, served as a janitor on the Colossus platform. Additionally, two Frigosians named Thromba and Laparo were employed as cryptosurgeons at Maz Kanata's castle.

The sentient species known as Frigosians came from the planet of Tansyl 5. Their physical characteristics included dome-shaped heads, as broad as their shoulders, and a dense covering of fluffy yellowish hair. In comparison to humanoid sizes, they were considered to be of short stature. Though typically hidden by their fur, they possessed a substantial mouth containing dagger-like teeth.
As a nocturnal species, Frigosians had delicate eyes, necessitating the use of dark goggles for protection against light in certain surroundings. On planets like Takodana and Castilon, the atmosphere differed so greatly from Tansyl 5 that they needed to use breathing equipment. They communicated using their own language, which was composed of various chirping sounds.
The refueling station Colossus had Opeepit, a Frigosian, as its only janitor. At Maz Kanata's castle, Thromba and [Laparo](/article/laparo], who were Frigosians, worked as a team of cryptosurgeons.
The Frigosian species made their debut in "The Face of Evil," a short story penned by Landry Q. Walker as part of the Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens multimedia project, which was a promotional campaign launched before the 2015 release of the film Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. Subsequently, they appeared as supporting characters in the film. Lucasfilm Story Group member Pablo Hidalgo provided the species' original name, drawing inspiration from the McDonaldland characters known as "Fry Guys."
