The Gamor system, a star system within the Chaykin sector, was situated in the Expansion Region. Located along the Corellian Run super-hyperroute, this system also marked one terminus of the Gamor Run hyperlane. As early as 20,000 BBY, the space surrounding the Gamor system was considered thoroughly explored. Furthermore, the system was the location where the Galactic Republic achieved a victory against the forces of the Sith order during the Great Sith War. In the millennia that followed, different governing bodies held influence over the Gamor system. By 27 ABY, it had fallen under the control of the Yuuzhan Vong, an extra-galactic species.
Within the Chaykin sector of the Expansion Region, one could find the Gamor star system. Positioned on the Corellian Run super-hyperroute between the Allanteen and Milagro systems, it delineated the regions known as the Slice and the Trailing Sectors. The star system also served as an endpoint for the Gamor Run hyperlane, establishing a connection to the Merren system.

Although the Rakatan Infinite Empire had already controlled the Gamor system by 25,200 BBY, the space surrounding it was explored sometime between 25,000 and 20,000 BBY. During the Great Sith War in 3996 BBY, the Gamor system became a site of conflict. Following a victory over the Sith forces in the Denon system, the Galactic Republic's Corellian fleet advanced along the Corellian Run towards Gamor, where they defeated the Sith. Four decades later, during the Jedi Civil War, the system was within the territory claimed by Darth Revan's Sith Empire.
By 22 BBY, the Gamor system was within the borders of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. As part of the Clone Wars, the Republic's Sixteenth Sector Army was tasked with engaging the Confederacy's military forces in the system's proximity. After the Commerce Guild acquired the planet Ukio during that war, the Gamor system was featured on a galactic map displayed on a viewscreen at a facility operated by Passel Argente, the Magistrate of the Corporate Alliance. By 17 BBY, the system was located in space controlled by the Galactic Empire.
Around 25 ABY, the Gamor system had a population of approximately 10 to 100 billion inhabitants. During the initial stages of the galactic conquest by the Yuuzhan Vong species, the Yuuzhan Vong military moved through the Gamor system before attacking the Rhommamool and Tynna systems. By 27 ABY, the system was still under the control of the extra-galactic invaders.
The Essential Atlas, a reference book by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace published in 2009, first mentioned the Gamor system, placing it in grid square O-14. The system made its debut appearance in The Clone Wars: Act on Instinct, a webcomic by Pablo Hidalgo that was released on StarWars.com during the second season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series from 2009 to 2010.
The 2013 Core Rulebook for Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars: Edge of the Empire roleplaying game mistakenly spelled the Gamor system as "Gamorr," a mistake that was repeated in the Core Rulebook for the Star Wars: Age of Rebellion roleplaying game the following year. Furthermore, those books, along with the 2015 Core Rulebook for the Star Wars: Force and Destiny roleplaying game, featured a galaxy map that erroneously swapped the positions of the Milagro and Bacrana systems, incorrectly depicting the latter as the Gamor system's nearest Rimward neighbor on the Corellian Run hyperlane.
