The Gillypod was a plant endemic to Zeffo, a planet situated within the Outer Rim Territories and known for its electromagnetic wind. It flourished in the grassy sections of the Windswept Ruins, a location that contained the remnants of old structures built by the Zeffonian species. This plant was characterized by multiple torus-shaped leaves, each adorned with pink flowers situated atop red stems at the leaf's center.
During the year 14 BBY, as the crew of the Stinger Mantis, a luxury yacht, undertook their mission to re-establish the Jedi Order, Cal Kestis, a Jedi Padawan, gathered a Gillypod seed from Zeffo's Windswept Ruins. Kestis subsequently planted this seed within a terrarium that belonged to Greez Dritus, his companion, on board the Mantis. Kestis obtained various seeds, including the Gillypod, to express his gratitude to Dritus for the support he provided during the Mantis crew's assignment. In 9 BBY, after the crew disbanded, Dritus made his home in a cantina located on the planet Koboh, where he replanted the Gillypod in a pot located in the cantina's basement.
The Gillypod was featured in the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which was released in 2019 and developed by Respawn Entertainment.
