Graal, a Human of male gender, held the position of Assistant Warden within the Republic's prison complex situated on the planet known as Belsavis during the era of the Galactic War. Following the death of Warden Playt, Graal ascended to the role of Warden around 3641 BBY. However, his life was cut short shortly thereafter when he spearheaded a Republic Military mission into the Tomb in an attempt to prevent the Dread Masters from escaping.
In the vicinity of 3641 BBY, Graal was alongside Warden Playt during the Empire's assault on Belsavis, which triggered a large scale prison break. In response, they requested a specialized Republic strike team to aid in managing the Condemned, the descendants of Belsavis' criminal and dissident population who were denied parole; however, their base came under attack from the Condemned. Although they successfully repelled the assault, Playt was among those killed, which resulted in Graal assuming his position through de facto command. Determined to restore order, Graal tasked the strike team with safeguarding Kelsa Gerro as they worked to regain control of the power generator. Shortly after restoring power, they discovered that the Condemned had obtained magnatar rifles, which compelled Graal to order the strike team to retrieve the weapons and employ cryo grenades against any prisoners.
Upon the strike team's return to the base, Graal presented them with a message from Nyranos, the leader of the Condemned, delivering a speech to his followers. Subsequently, he dispatched them to the Condemned's hideout located at the edge of the Minimum Security Section to uncover their intentions. Later, the strike team reported that the Condemned were planning to use a neural disruptor against the base to incapacitate everyone inside. Despite Kelsa's efforts to remodulate the shields to counteract this effect, it did not prevent the Condemned from launching a second assault on the base. Many of Graal's personnel, including Kelsa, perished in the fighting, leaving him as the only survivor when the strike team returned. Consumed by grief over Kelsa's death, Graal demanded Nyranos' demise. Eventually, when the strike team confronted the Kaleesh, the latter attempted to negotiate, only to be betrayed by his own men and his Imperial allies. After the conflict subsided, Nyranos instructed his remaining followers to surrender, just before Graal rushed into the control room, still driven by vengeance. Nevertheless, the strike team managed to persuade Graal to relinquish his desire for revenge, and he agreed to grant the Condemned a portion of land on Belsavis where they could live peacefully, provided they assisted in restoring order.
With the situation involving the Condemned resolved, Graal directed the strike team to the High Security Section to provide assistance to Colonel Hauer with the rioters. Amidst the chaos, prisoners fleeing High Security reached Minimum Security and informed Graal about Hauler and Senator Tudos' Project Noble Focus, a scheme in which alien prisoners are pitted against each other in continuous war games to study their strengths and weaknesses. Following the strike team's handling of the Rattataki leader, Sulkhaz, Graal confronted the Colonel and Senator via holo, accusing them of exacerbating the situation with their project and violating numerous ethical laws. Tudos attempted to justify his actions and insisted on concealing the truth from the public, arguing that many Republic worlds would revolt if the truth were revealed. However, the strike team refused to comply, and Graal supported their decision to expose the truth about Project Noble Focus. He then dispatched the strike team to assist General Skylast in Maximum Security Section.
After the strike team dealt with the Esh-kha leader Gore Claw and sealed the [World Razer](/article/world_razer], Graal proceeded to Maximum Security to personally express his gratitude to the Republic's heroes.
Despite receiving reinforcements from the Republic, Graal's problems were far from over. The Imperials deployed their own specialized strike team to escalate the violence, with their primary objective being to liberate the Dread Masters. As a diversion, they captured and executed Ellis Ruger before Graal's very eyes via holo.
Ultimately, Graal led a team in pursuit of the Imperials into [the Tomb](/article/the_tomb], where the Esh-kha had taken the Dread Masters, but he arrived too late. The Imperials had already freed the Dread Masters, who swiftly exacted their revenge on Graal. Overwhelmed by fear, Graal began firing indiscriminately on his own squad before they were all killed.
