This desert world experienced this hardship in the years leading up to the Battle of Yavin. This drought, considered the most devastating in recent history, severely impacted moisture farmers, leaving them with a scarcity of water and exacerbating the already difficult situation on this impoverished and remote planet. As the drought persisted, the crime lord Jabba the Hutt's enforcers imposed a "water tax" on behalf of their boss. Speculation arose that Jabba was hoarding the water for his own personal use, namely to indulge in lengthy baths to alleviate the effects of the extended period of heat. However, Obi-Wan Kenobi, a former Jedi Master, later documented in his journal his disbelief in these claims, asserting that during his encounters with Jabba, he never witnessed him engaging in any bathing activities.
