The Journals of Ben Kenobi were a series of personal logs penned by the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi while he was in exile on the desert world of Tatooine. These writings were stored inside a secure, keypad-locked box within the lower level of Kenobi's home. Luke Skywalker came across this box during a visit to the home in 0 BBY. Following Kenobi's mortal death, Luke visited Kenobi's residence on Tatooine and discovered the journal within a container marked "For Luke."
Contained within these writings were tales of Obi-Wan Kenobi's efforts to safeguard Luke and assist the local inhabitants. Additionally, Kenobi documented his strong desire to deepen his understanding of the Force and his attempts to connect with Qui-Gon Jinn, as well as reflections on his choices as a Jedi. Furthermore, they provided instructions for constructing a lightsaber. They were created using a calligraphy set, which was later inherited by Ben Solo.
The Journals of Ben Kenobi made their debut in the Marvel comic book Star Wars (2015) 6. Jason Aaron, the writer of the comic, stated that stories originating from Kenobi's journal would be presented as individual comic issues positioned between story arcs of the Star Wars comic series. The initial story derived from the journal was featured in Star Wars (2015) 7.
Despite the transcribed title in the comic employing the plural form "journals," the Aurebesh text on the cover actually indicates the singular form, "journal."
