Hangshan sector

The Hangshan sector formed a portion of the Expansion Region. Within its boundaries were the Artesia, Erai, and Ulda Frav systems. By the year 5000 BBY, the Ulda Frav star system was situated within the "civilized galaxy," an area extensively explored by the Galactic Republic. Around this time, a hyperlane connected Ulda Frav to both the Attahox and Belasco systems. Sometime well before 3956 BBY, the ancient Sith launched an attack on Erai's third moon.

Description

The Hangshan sector was situated in the Slice area of the Expansion Region. As of 0 ABY, its Rimward borders touched the Hocatar and Tolemses sectors. In the Coreward direction, it met the Harron Marches, the Askarian sector, and the Serathrace sectors at a four-way intersection. The Artesia, Erai, and Ulda Frav systems were all located within the Hangshan sector.

Locations

The Hangshan sector contained the Artesia, Erai, and Ulda Frav systems.

Within the Hangshan sector were the planets Artesia, the birthplace of Artesian space collage, and Ulda Frav. By 5000 BBY, Ulda Frav was located in the "civilized galaxy," which the Galactic Republic had thoroughly explored. Between that year and 3996 BBY, Ulda Frav was on a hyperlane linking it to the Attahox and Belasco systems. However, this hyperspace route was no longer in use by the time of the Mandalorian Wars from 3976 BBY3960 BBY.

Before the Freedon Nadd Uprising in 3998 BBY, a group of Jedi mediated a treaty on Ulda Frav. There, they met Crown Prince Qrrrl Toq of Nazzri, a secluded Mid Rim planet. He was on Ulda Frav as part of his self-imposed exile, known as boqeri. The Nazzar subsequently accompanied the Jedi back to Ossus, the Jedi Order's headquarters in the Outer Rim Territories. During the Krath Holy Crusade in the Great Sith War of 3996 BBY, the Krath's military passed through the Ulda Frav system before engaging Republic forces in the Attahox system.

Eralam lightsaber crystals were mined on the third moon of Erai, located in the Hangshan sector's Erai system, sometime far in advance of 3956 BBY. The ancient Sith bombarded the moon, leaving much of it shattered and the crystals extremely scarce.

Behind the scenes

The Hangshan sector was first detailed in the StarWars.com Online Companion for the 2009 book The Essential Atlas, penned by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry. In 2012, Modi's map of the sector appeared in the Online Companion feature "Essential Atlas Extra: Expansion Region."
