Helix Squadron was a Galactic Empire squadron of starfighters that saw action during the Galactic Civil War. This squadron participated in the attempted destruction of a refugee convoy that was fleeing from the Disaster. Captain Lindon Javes commanded it before he defected to the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
Around the time of the destruction of Alderaan, Helix Squadron was an Imperial TIE fighter squadron, composed of TIE pilots, under the command of Captain Lindon Javes. Lieutenant Terisa Kerrill served as his second-in-command. A certain pilot was also among their ranks, caught in the middle of the battles to come. The squadron reported to Commodore Rae Sloane.
Helix Squadron was assigned to Rae Sloane's fleet, with the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Vigilance serving as their headquarters. While the Squadron typically used the Sigma-Nine loadout for their starfighters, they occasionally switched back to standard TIE/ln space superiority starfighters for specific missions, a practice Kerrill referred to as "old school". The TIE Advanced v1 was also used by the Squadron, with Lindon Javes piloting it at least once.
Following Alderaan's destruction, Darth Vader was convinced that Alderaanians had stirred up rebellion and anarchy, and that the survivors continued to spread dissent. He gave orders to Imperial forces to locate them and not cease their efforts until the destruction of Alderaan was complete.

Commodore Rae Sloane received information about an Alderaanian refugee convoy heading towards Fostar Haven and instructed Captain Lindon Javes to lure them out and eliminate them. Javes, flying a TIE Advanced v1, led Helix Squadron in standard-equipped TIE fighters to Fostar Haven. They were accompanied by a group of Arquitens-class command cruisers, Gozanti-class cruisers, and Quasar Fire-class cruiser-carriers that formed a blockade to protect the rearguard from any escaping vessels.
Javes ordered Helix to begin patrolling, scanning the various freighters and transports, including BFF-1s and a GR-75 medium transport, which ranged from innocent traders to weapons and spice smugglers. This action angered the Stationmaster of Fostar Haven, who activated the station's defensive turrets and attacked the TIE fighters. After the defenses were destroyed, a group of T-65B X-wing starfighters emerged from a tunnel and engaged the TIE fighters, suffering some casualties in the process.

After defeating all the X-wings, Lieutenant Terisa Kerrill and her wing-mate discovered three GR-75 medium transports carrying the Alderaanian refugees attempting to escape through the same tunnel. As they moved to intercept the transports, Javes turned against his squad, disabling their TIEs with ion missiles. Now a traitor to the Empire, Javes aided the transports in their escape by destroying tunnel walls, preventing the two TIE pilots from catching up to him and the convoy. As the refugee transports exited the tunnel, they were blocked from further escape by the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Vigilance and four additional Arquitens cruisers.
Following a distress signal to the Rebel Alliance, Echo Squadron arrived to assist the refugee convoy. Javes offered his support to the Alliance forces and defected. Subsequently, the rest of the Alliance fleet arrived to weaken the Imperial blockade, and after the rebel ships disabled the tracking system on the Star Destroyer, they jumped to lightspeed.
Years later, Javes became the leader of Vanguard Squadron, while Terisa led Titan Squadron, placing the former leader and protege in combat against each other. Later, their former ally assisted Terisa, fighting for Titan Squadron, and eventually facing off in the battle of the Ringali Nebula.
The video game Star Wars: Squadrons, released in 2020, featured Helix Squadron in its prologue mission.
