A homesteader ship was a specific class of starship. In a Force vision of the future, the Eye of Webbish Bog showed the Sith Lord Darth Vader an image between 3 ABY and 4 ABY where a group of homesteaders journeyed to Kligson's Moon on such a ship. After their arrival, they encountered Ajax Sigma, a droid who had also traveled to the moon to retrieve an item he required. Sigma claimed the homesteaders attacked him, leading him to kill them all, an act that created a disturbance in the Force sensed by the Jedi Luke Skywalker.
Skywalker, accompanied by Leia Organa, Lando Calrissian, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2, journeyed to the moon to investigate the disturbance's origin. Upon arriving, Skywalker led the rebels to the homesteader ship where they found the crew's corpses. The Jedi suggested splitting into pairs to search the ship, suspecting the killer might still be present. Skywalker partnered with R2, and while traversing the ship, they encountered Sigma. Skywalker questioned the droid about his reasons for killing the homesteaders. After hearing Sigma's explanation, Skywalker ignited his lightsaber and declared his intention to take Sigma into custody to answer for his actions against the crew. Sigma refused to comply and attacked Skywalker. After Skywalker damaged Sigma's plating, he demanded the droid surrender or face destruction. The droid then remarked to Skywalker that humans do not consider a third option, as he entered a pod and escaped from the ship.
