House Cadriaan, situated within the Tapani sector, was a noble house governing the Cadriaan Province.
The origins of House Cadriaan trace back to a secession from House Pelagia by a group of colonists, leading to the establishment of an independent house. Consequently, a consistently cordial and intimate bond has characterized the relationship between Houses Cadriaan and Pelagia. The creation of the Shapani Bypass resulted in Cadriaan's control over some of the most economically significant planets within the sector. Without the safeguarding provided by Pelagia (in exchange for unfettered access to the trade routes), Houses Mecetti or Barnaba would have likely absorbed Cadriaan.
Cadriaan expanded and reinforced its defenses, yet it consistently relied on Pelagia's support in the event of an attack. With the downfall of House Pelagia, Cadriaan recognized the urgent need to bolster both its economy and military strength to avert absorption by another power. Cadriaan welcomed affluent investors active in the sector, many originating from the Freeworlds or the Mining Guild. To incentivize investments, Cadriaan permitted prosperous and influential commoners, including aliens, to acquire noble titles. However, Cadriaan ensured that only a carefully selected few outsiders were admitted, preventing newcomers from ever outnumbering its own families.

During the Rebellion era, House Cadriaan held dominion over the Achillea system, Cesya system, Gilliana system, Listoria system, Nista system, Pavia system, and Shopani system. Some of these systems had previously been under the control of House Pelagia and were integrated into Cadriaan's territory to safeguard Pelagia following the fall of that house.
During the Rebellion era, the economic prosperity of House Cadriaan was largely based on trade. Its tariffs were set lower than those of the Freeworlds (with the exception of House Calipsa, which faced high tariffs), which attracted significant commercial activity, as did the practice of selling titles to wealthy corporate leaders. Cadriaan maintained an extensive sensor network that enabled the detection of nearly all vessels traversing its space.
House Cadriaan's military forces consisted of six Tapani-class assault frigate and one Tapani-class carrier, with an additional seven frigates on order from the Tallaani Shipyards. Furthermore, House Cadriaan had a substantial fleet of patrol lighters, including GAT-12 Skipray Blastboats, and starfighters (primarily Manta-class assault starfighters). Significant capital was invested in enhancing and expanding its defense capabilities to ensure the security of the spacelanes against pirates and smugglers, as well as to defend against rival houses and the Galactic Empire.
Compared to other houses, House Cadriaan exhibited a more open and commercially oriented approach, viewing spying and devious strategies with disfavor, resorting to them only when absolutely necessary. It maintained an alliance with its close ally and mentor, House Pelagia, and with the Freeworld faction of Aleron. During the Rebellion era, Cadriaan faced opposition from the Mecetti-Reena-Calipsa coalition due to its support for House Pelagia.
During this period, House Cadriaan also maintained a clandestine alliance with the Expanse mining corporations in their endeavor to divide the Freeworlds into a new sector. Cadriaan's ambition was to gain control over Aleron, positioning itself advantageously as the sole house in the Tapani sector with access to the Shapani Bypass.
