Hudrow, a Human male, functioned as the personal pilot of Exchange crime lord Davik Kang on the Ebon Hawk. During the Sith Empire's control of Taris, he earned Kang's displeasure by pilfering spice from the spice lab located at Kang's estate. As punishment, Kang had him confined and tortured within his torture chamber by K-X12 probe droids, a situation that lasted until the destruction of Taris an hour later.
Hudrow, a member of the powerful Exchange crime organization, worked for its crime lord, Davik Kang, as the dedicated pilot of the Dynamic-class freighter, the Ebon Hawk. The Ebon Hawk was known as potentially the quickest starship in the Outer Rim, and Kang highly valued it. Because he piloted such a prestigious ship for such a prestigious man, Hudrow inevitably gained a certain level of status as well. Hudrow took advantage of this status to commit various offenses, confident that he would not be punished.
This changed in 3956 BBY when the Sith Empire took over Taris, Kang's homeworld, during the Jedi Civil War and established a planet-wide quarantine. The Sith fleet's auto-targeting laser cannons reinforced the blockade, and they could instantly destroy any ship trying to leave the planet without the proper authorization codes. Despite its speed, even the Ebon Hawk could not avoid these laser cannons, which meant the ship was grounded. With the Ebon Hawk out of commission, Hudrow's role was temporarily unimportant, and his status was temporarily invalid.
Therefore, when Hudrow was discovered stealing spice from the spice lab at the estate, he was not exempt from punishment. Having provoked Kang's anger, he was locked in a force cage in the "guest" room—which was actually a torture chamber—where two K-X12 probe droids constantly tortured him.
Luckily for Hudrow, Revan, a Galactic Republic soldier, had just infiltrated the estate posing as a potential recruit brought by Canderous Ordo, a Mandalorian mercenary and one of Kang's top subordinates. Ordo and Revan, along with Revan's companions, had already obtained the necessary departure codes and were attempting to steal the Ebon Hawk and escape the blockade. However, the ship's hangar was protected by an impenetrable security system that Hudrow, as the pilot, could access.
After Revan learned about Hudrow's predicament by questioning the slaves, he went to the torture room to free the pilot from his suffering, destroying the K-X12 probe droids in the process.
Out of gratitude, Hudrow, having nothing else to offer, uploaded the access codes needed to bypass the Ebon Hawk's security system onto Revan's datapad. Even without understanding that this was exactly what Revan needed, he believed that access to the Ebon Hawk was a valuable reward. With that, he and his saviors parted ways, and he hurried to leave the estate before Kang found out about his escape.
Without his knowledge, Revan and his group encountered Kang and the notorious bounty hunter Calo Nord in the hangar moments later, a confrontation that resulted in Kang's death and Nord's serious injury just as the Sith began their orbital bombardment to destroy the entire planet.
Hudrow is a non-player character featured in the video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The access codes to the Ebon Hawk's hangar, which he provides as a reward for being saved from torture, are essential for the player's main quest to escape the planet with the ship. However, it is not the only way for the player to reach the Ebon Hawk, as they can also disable the security system by hacking into a security terminal, which requires up to ten computer spikes depending on the Computer Use skill of the character being used. Accessing the computer itself will cost one or two spikes, unless the player obtains the computer passcard from a Trandoshan bounty hunter in the corridor outside the torture chamber. Although it is unknown whether the player's character, Revan, canonically chooses to forgo rescuing Hudrow and instead relies on hacking the security system, using Hudrow's access codes to unlock the hangar doors is the more efficient method of reaching the Ebon Hawk.
If the player chooses the dark side path, they have the option to kill Hudrow after rescuing him, claiming that he might alert the guards and is too dangerous to be left alive. If either Bastila Shan or Carth Onasi are present, they will object, but only Carth will automatically prevent the player from carrying out the kill, while the player can proceed with it despite Bastila's objections. The player will gain additional dark side points if they threatened Hudrow before killing him, asserting that the reward was insufficient. The player will not receive light side points for either releasing Hudrow or sparing his life to confirm the intention is to save him.
