A husk necklace, which can also be referred to as an Aki-Aki necklace, was a necklace of a yellow hue. The Aki-Aki species of the planet Pasaana utilized these necklaces.
During the Festival of the Ancestors in 35 ABY, the Jedi Rey journeyed to Pasaana as part of her search for a clue that would reveal the location of a Sith wayfinder. While there, she met Nambi Ghima, a young Aki-Aki celebrating. Ghima presented Rey with a husk necklace; however, shortly afterwards, the First Order Supreme Leader Kylo Ren stole the necklace from Rey using their Force-bond. He then gave it to Tishra Kandia, a First Order intelligence officer, tasking her with finding out where it came from. Kandia's analysis revealed that the necklace originated from Pasaana's Forbidden Valley in the [Middian system](/article/middian_system]. With this information, Ren, accompanied by the Knights of Ren, traveled to Pasaana to confront Rey and her Resistance allies.
The husk necklaces initially made their debut in the 2019 Star Wars motion picture Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. Their identification first occurred in the 2019 reference book Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary, which was authored by Pablo Hidalgo.
