A species from Wild Space, whose name has been forgotten by time, was the civilization that constructed the enormous habitable sphere known as Iokath.
Millennia prior to the Manderon Period, originating within the Unknown Regions, this species's civilization was built upon scientists and engineers. These individuals dedicated centuries, iterating through countless design phases, to conceive and build weapons of mass destruction. To refine their designs, they tested these weapons on unsuspecting planets across the Unknown Regions, collecting feedback data. Throughout their existence, they field-tested their weaponry on over seventy different planets, often obliterating civilizations, wiping out sentient species, or even destroying entire biospheres. Despite these actions, the species was not inherently violent or expansionist; when feasible, they offered reparations to survivors for reconstruction, planning to test again millennia later.

The species' analysts and designers reported to the Master Designers Council. The Council eventually initiated Project Iokath, a monumental endeavor aimed at creating an adaptable and expandable home for the entire species, secure from any external threats. To achieve this, they selected an unremarkable star within the Unknown Regions and dismantled every celestial body in its system, down to the smallest asteroid, recovering their constituent elements. These elements were then utilized to construct a massive, self-sustaining ecosphere that completely enveloped the star, harnessing 100% of its energy output. This vast habitat was named Iokath, and upon completion, it prevented any light from escaping, rendering the entire system undetectable to the rest of the galaxy. Furthermore, the sphere's external defenses made its internal biome virtually impregnable, while the internal modules could be modified and expanded as needed, granting Iokath's creators absolute control over their new domain.
Over the centuries, Iokath technology advanced even further. Their most significant creations included a colossal Eternal Fleet operating in unison through the GEMINI captains' link, and the Old Gods - massive titan war droids designated Izax, Scyva, Tyth, Aivela, Esne, and [Nahut]. These droids caused devastation on four different planets, resulting in the deaths of over ten trillion individuals. These weapons were controlled via throne-like interfaces, allowing users to issue direct commands while seated. One such throne was eventually removed from Iokath and became known as the Eternal Throne. The Iokathi also developed a vessel capable of neutralizing the Eternal Fleet, called the Gravestone, an advanced artificial intelligence in the form of a long-extinct bipedal species known as SCORPIO, and a massive superweapon capable of rendering thousands of organic beings unconscious or dead within a radius of hundreds of kilometers. Later in their history, new weapon designs were no longer tested on live worlds, with simulations used to predict their effectiveness.
The species met its demise when a dispute on Iokath, a common occurrence among organic beings, escalated into a full-scale Iokath Civil War, with both factions wielding multiple weapons capable of planetary-scale destruction. Suddenly, the galaxy's most advanced weaponry was turned against its creators. In an attempt to survive, Iokath engineers sent many of their creations, including the Eternal Fleet, the GEMINI droids, and SCORPIO, into Wild Space with their memory cores locked, preventing their return to Iokath. However, this proved to be a temporary solution, as one side eventually unleashed the Six Gods on Iokath, leading to the extinction of all organic life on the artificial world. In the aftermath, only one self-aware droid remained on Iokath - ARIES, who enslaved other droids to reshape the world according to his vision.
