The second short film in the animated miniseries LEGO Star Wars: All-Stars is called "It Gets Ugly". It premiered on the Disney XD YouTube channel on October 30, 2018. Later, this short was included as part of the episode "From Trenches to Wrenches: The Roger Story."
The episode begins with Lieutenant Valeria narrating a space battle to General Hera Syndulla on the Home One. Just as Hera is about to share a tale about piloting the Ghost through an asteroid field, Roger interrupts, wanting to tell them about the time he saved the day. Ignoring Valeria and Hera's irritation, Roger begins reading Chapter 18, titled "It Gets Ugly," from his autobiography From Trenches to Wrenches: The Roger Story.
Roger recounts working for Pace Freemaker, a Corellian mechanic who was his first master. Pace had spent several years restoring a Delta-7B Aethersprite-class light interceptor along with its Syliure-31 hyperspace docking ring. Pace is excited, saying that this ship will be sold for a fortune. Roger offers to celebrate Pace's success with some freshly baked bantha bread. However, he trips over a rag, landing on the starfighter's booster ring. Roger is launched onto the front of the yellow starfighter, while the hot bantha bread lands on Pace, burning him. Pace then accidentally activates the starfighter, sending both the ship and its hyperspace booster ring into lightspeed.
After exiting hyperspace, they are pulled into the orbit of Dathomir. Pace questions their destination, but Roger responds that he shouldn't know since Pace was the one who pressed the button. The Delta starfighter separates from its booster ring and crash lands. Pace is devastated that his starfighter is ruined, while Roger is upset about his ruined bantha bread. A roar is heard, and they discover a rancor.
They run from the rancor, which then awakens two others. Roger and Pace escape into a cave that the rancors can't reach. Pace wonders how they will escape. Roger adds the question of how they will get home, noting that he only sees wreckage from ships foolish enough to come to this "dump planet."
Pace spots a TIE fighter power coupling and a Y-wing starfighter repulsor. He decides to build their way out and tells Roger to distract the rancors. Roger reluctantly lures the rancors away from the cave by tempting them with bantha bread. Meanwhile, Pace constructs an Ugly from the salvaged starship parts. Roger trips on a landing gear, causing it to fall near Pace.
Pace realizes this is what he needs. One of the rancors catches up to Roger and is about to eat him when Pace flies by in his X-wing–TIE Ugly hybrid, rescuing him. Back at Pace's hangar, Pace is sad that he once had a beautiful starfighter but now only has this Ugly. However, a human woman offers to purchase it for 10,000 credits. Pace accepts.
Returning to the story, Roger claims that Pace's success in selling Uglies was all thanks to him. Hera disagrees, pointing out that Pace flew it and named it. Valeria agrees, saying the story is about Pace's success in spite of Roger. Roger retorts that he prefers his version.
