Jark (clone trooper)

Jark was the designation given to a clone cold assault trooper. This trooper served with the Devil Dogs, a unit within the 44th Special Operations Division of the Grand Army of the Republic during the period known as the Clone Wars. Circa 22 BBY, Jark took part in the Battle of Khorm, operating under the command of Jedi Masters Plo Koon, Kit Fisto, and Tauht. Jark was among the clone troopers who went with Fisto and Koon on a mission with the objective of destroying a Confederate weather-control station. Sadly, he met his death during a battle with Dark Acolyte Asajj Ventress and a squad of BX-series droid commandos.

Biography

Jark was the given name of a clone cold assault trooper who, as with many of his clone "brothers," was cloned using the DNA of the bounty hunter Jango Fett. He was raised on the planet Kamino for service in the Grand Army of the Republic. During the Clone Wars, Jark was a member of the Devil Dogs, which was a specialized detachment of the Grand Army's 44th Special Operations Division, reporting to Major Kendal Ozzel. In approximately 22 BBY, Jark was among the clone troopers sent to the planet Khorm to secure the substantial deposits of the valuable agrocite mineral. However, by the time that the Galactic Republic task force, under the leadership of Jedi Masters Plo Koon, Kit Fisto, and Tauht arrived at their destination, the planet had already fallen under the control of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. This forced the Republic to engage in battle with the enemy.

The weather-control station, the Jedi's target

The Jedi deployed their initial ground troops, including Jark and the Devil Dogs, but were unable to bring in reinforcements because of a severe storm raging in Khorm's atmosphere. Despite this setback, the Republic forces managed to capture an agrocite processing facility, establishing a base of operations there. After receiving information from Republic Admiral Wieler about a Confederate starship passing through a gap in the storm, the Jedi came to the conclusion that the storm was being manipulated by a nearby weather-control station, and they resolved to destroy it. Consequently, Koon and Fisto led a detachment of Devil Dogs clone troopers, including Jark, and embarked on CK-6 swoop bikes to eliminate the station. Upon reaching the mountain region, the group observed a native Khormai village devastated by the storm. Using their lightsabers, the Jedi created graves in the ice for the dead Khormai. Captain Sharp of the Devil Dogs then instructed Jark and another trooper, Fixer, to assist the Jedi in burying the Khormai, after which the Republic strike force continued on its mission.

As the group advanced, they were ambushed by Confederate Dark Acolyte Asajj Ventress, who engaged Koon and Fisto in combat. Simultaneously, several BX-series droid commandos emerged from the snow, and the clones engaged them in battle. With Ventress cornered by the two Jedi Masters, she used the Force to bring down an avalanche upon the Republic troops. Ventress then began searching for survivors, eliminating those she could find before departing the scene. Jark was among those who died in the conflict. However, the Jedi, having managed to create a Force pocket to protect some of the troops buried under the snow, and the remaining members of their clone squad successfully destroyed the weather-control station, enabling the Republic to secure victory in the battle.

Personality and traits

Like all clone troopers, Jark's height was 1.83 meters. He wore a set of cold assault trooper armor, which was decorated with the red markings that identified him as a member of the Devil Dogs.
