Jek Kardan

During the Great Galactic War and the subsequent Cold War, a Human male known as Jek Kardan played a significant role as one of the leaders within Havoc Squad. This squad was instrumental in the fight against the resurgent Sith Empire.

Biography

During the time of the Great Galactic War, Jek Kardan gained recognition as one of the original members of Havoc Squad. Initially, he served as second-in-command to Jace Malcom. Following Malcolm's promotion, Kardan assumed the role of commander for the squad. Additionally, Kardan took on the responsibility of mentoring Harron Tavus in military strategy and tactics.

After the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant and the beginning of the Cold War, Garza tasked Havoc Squad with disrupting an Imperial offensive on Ando Prime. However, the enemy's forces were much larger than anticipated. Just as Garza was about to order an extraction, the Galactic Senate, fearing that their unauthorized mission was violating the treaty, decided to abandon them. Kardan, demonstrating his leadership, managed to maintain the squad's cohesion, and they independently found their way back. Upon discovering the Senate's betrayal, he resigned, leading to Tavus taking over the squad. Neither of them were ever the same after this. Subsequently, Kardan vanished from public view.

By the year 3643 BBY, all of Kardan's former comrades had chosen to defect to the Sith Empire. Kardan himself was on Coruscant, collaborating with a local vigilante group known as the Justicars' Brigade. He decided to assist his former friends by working with Imperial infiltrators and the Justicars to reactivate an ancient Republic transmitter located in the Works. This action allowed all Republic SpecForce defectors to communicate across the galaxy.

However, Kardan's actions did not go unnoticed. General Elin Garza dispatched a new iteration of Havoc Squad to apprehend Kardan. Upon being confronted, Kardan initially mistook the Lieutenant and Aric Jorgan for ordinary soldiers and ordered them to stand down. However, upon recognizing the Havoc Squad insignia, he realized that the Lieutenant was the new recruit from the old Havoc who refused to defect. Instead of engaging the new Havoc Squad, Kardan retreated to the Works, leaving the frustrated Imperial agents to deal with them.

Despite this, Havoc Squad successfully fought their way out and pursued Kardan to the transmitter. The Lieutenant attempted to persuade Kardan to surrender. Kardan came to the realization that even if he were to kill them, Garza would simply send another team to destroy the transmitter and hunt down his comrades. While the Imperials might offer protection, it would be limited. Therefore, he agreed to assist in bringing in his friends, but he threatened to kill the Lieutenant if they failed to save even one of the defectors. However, his Imperial escorts refused to allow him to be taken into enemy custody and launched an attack, only to be killed by the Havoc trio.

Later, Kardan made a public appearance at the Senate building and surrendered in broad daylight. However, Garza kept him under tight security to prevent him from carrying out his threat of retribution if any of the traitors were not captured alive, which ultimately turned out to be the case.
