Jerid, a male human, was a follower of the Path of the Open Hand, a cult. He resided at their compound located on the planet of Dalna. Vemian was his younger sister. In 382 BBY, Jerid held the position of the eldest among the Path's Littles, for whom Marda Ro, a member of the Path, provided care.
During that year, while distributing flowers alongside Ro at a station within the market of the Dalnan city of Ferdan, he playfully taunted Utalir, another Path member and Little, remarking that her yellow head tendrils possessed greater beauty than the flowers. He also pondered what the Path might receive if they were to offer her as a freely given present. Soon after, a Jedi briefly visited their station. Following this encounter, Jerid informed the Littles that his mother had conveyed that adhering to the Path was simpler without being Force-sensitive and succumbing to the temptation of using it. In response to Utalir's inquiry, he recounted hearing that Jedi were warriors who engaged in combat against monsters.
Furthermore, Jerid harbored romantic feelings for Yana Ro, and he experienced disappointment upon witnessing her kissing her girlfriend, Kor Plouth. When the Path's compound faced the threat of inundation, the Littles remained in the care of Elders Old Waiden and Mabel Wiss. He and Utalir even took responsibility for the well-being of three toddlers during this period.
