Biography

Life within the Path

Typically, Force-sensitive children within the Path of the Open Hand were sent away to Ferdan, a nearby settlement; however, when Kor displayed Force abilities as a child, her father refused to allow it. After Kor's mother, Opari, became sick, the family's devotion to the Path deepened because the Mother provided assistance to Opari. Around 387 BBY, when Yana reached the age of fifteen, she expressed a desire to leave the Path and explore the galaxy with Kor. After some discussion, Yana eventually convinced Kor to consider leaving one day, with the hope of finding a cure for her mother's ailment. At some point prior to 382 BBY, Kor Plouth and Yana Ro became romantically involved.

Mission to Port Haileap

Some months later, when Marda Ro, Yana's cousin, was denied entry into the Children of the Open Hand, Kor comforted her girlfriend before being summoned by Cincey to a briefing regarding the Children's upcoming mission. During the briefing, Kor defended her presence at the recruiting feast against Treze by referencing the hatching of Ferize's eggs. Cincey described their target, a Force dagger rumored to sever individuals' connection to the Force, as she believed the Force permeated everything. Kor inquired about the mission's duration, eager not to miss the naming ceremony for Ferize's offspring.

As the Children prepared to depart for their mission at Ferdan's docking facility, Kor admired a nearby skiff and suggested to Yana that they purchase a similar starship upon leaving, assuring her that she could learn to fly. Aboard the Harmony, Kor practiced her Cantos, a series of exercises designed to maintain her physical flexibility. She marked Yana's and her own foreheads with the Path's symbol. When Treze questioned the Mother's possession of an uncharted hyperspace route, Kor proposed that the Mother had acquired it through a trade with a prospector.

Upon their arrival at Port Haileap, Kor promptly began gathering local flowers for the Path's "gifts freely given," used for recruitment. Yana and Treze expressed doubt about the presence of the valuable dagger in such a small town, but Kor insisted on the reliability of Cincey and the Mother. Kor voiced her disapproval of Treze killing the dockmaster. Entering the warehouse filled with confiscated cargo, Kor questioned why such valuable goods were left unguarded. She utilized her acrobatic skills to reach the high shelf containing the box with their target artifact. En route back to Dalna, Kor sensed something amiss with the box through the Force. She embraced Yana, expressing her longing to explore the galaxy with her.

Tensions increasing

The Children made it back to Dalna in time for the Naming day ceremony, which Kor attended alongside Yana. Afterward, Yana told Kor about Marda's plan to invite Jedi Zallah Macri and Kevmo Zink to the Path compound. Kor shared her unease about the Jedi's presence, but also expressed her desire for her parents to approve of Yana enough to allow them to leave together. Kor and Yana went to the Mother's residence to inform her about the Jedi on Dalna, but first, they snuck off to a secluded alcove they often used for kissing. The Herald interrupted them, so they continued to the Mother's listening room, where the Mother waited with Opari. Kor sensed the egg that the Mother possessed. After leaving, she confided her dislike of the egg to Yana, who offered Kor comfort at her place.

The next day, Yana told the Mother about her intention to leave the Path, who asked her to talk to Kor, since Kor would be leaving her sick mother, Opari. The Mother relented to let Yana go, but after one final mission. Then, the Path compound flooded. Three days later, Kor inquired about Yana's promise to sit with Kor's family at the thanking feast. Yana protested that she had work to do, installing new lights for the caves, but Kor convinced her to fulfill the promise, and demanded she get ready for the feast within half an hour. At the feast, Kor welcomed Yana to sit on their family's blanket with Opari. Kor embraced her mother and expressed excitement about the dancing, leading Yana to wonder if Kor did not want to leave her mother. They watched the dance, but when the Herald asked why Yana wasn't fixing the lights, Yana took her leave to finish the lights, which disappointed Kor. As the Herald joined Yana, he expressed his disapproval of Yana's plan to take Kor away from her family. Yana retorted that it would be Kor's choice to join her, to which the Herald replied that it would be better for them both to stay in the Path with their families.

One last mission

The Children departed for their next mission the following day, tasked with acquiring the Jedi Tears from the Graf family compound on Thelj. While boarding the ship, Kor ignored Yana's attempts to engage in conversation. She began her usual cantos. When they were alone, Yana confronted Kor and requested that they talk. Kor retorted that Yana hadn't consulted with her before speaking with the Mother. Yana said that they had been talking about leaving for years, but Kor questioned why Yana was suddenly in such a hurry to leave. Yana explained her nervousness about the presence of Jedi on Dalna and how close they were to discovering the Jedi artifacts that the Path had. Kor affirmed her belief that the Force, which did not want people to "exploit" it, would protect the Path. Yana disagreed, and added that the Mother would be leading the Path away from Dalna on the Gaze Electric anyway. Kor claimed that leaving with the Mother would be freeing, and expressed gratitude towards the Mother for saving her mother's life. Yana apologized for leaving her behind, but Kor said that Yana should have asked her to join her. The Children reached their destination, cutting off the conversation.

Upon reaching the Graf compound, the Children invoked the Rite of Hospitality, which entitled them to warm themselves within the compound for an hour. Upon arriving at the waiting garden, Kor remained while Yana requested to use a refresher. A human and a [Duros](/article/duros] stayed with Treze and Kor to supervise them, but then drew weapons on them. Kor received a gash and screamed. Yana, hearing Kor's screams, returned to find Kor had jumped onto a nearby roof and had her hands up as the human had his blaster pointed at her. Yana attacked the human and killed him, while Treze stabbed the Duros. Kor jumped down to them and revealed her injury.

Yana expressed concern at the wound, but Kor said that she would live. Treze said that the guards had known why the Children were there, as if someone had told them. Kor insisted that they complete the mission to find the artifact, but lost consciousness soon after. The downed Duros killed Treze with his own knife, and Yana carried Kor outside the compound, where the cold air woke Kor up. Yana tried to help Kor back to the Scupper, but eventually the Kor fell onto the ice and refused to move despite Yana's attempts to encourage her. As Theljan whales started to crack the ice, Kor said that Yana should have asked Kor to leave with her, and that she would have agreed. When Yana protested that she couldn't ask her to leave her family and the Path, Kor said that she loved Yana more. Soon after, she succumbed to her injuries. Yana was forced to leave her body on the ice as the ice cracked and the whales pulled Kor's body into the water.

Legacy

For a time following Kor's passing, Yana Ro, her partner, experienced hallucinations of the deceased Nautolan. These visions of Kor frequently spoke to Yana and spurred her to rescue Werth Plouth from the Temple of the Kyber, where he was being held because of his involvement in the Battle of Jedha. Yana also saved Opari Plouth at the Night of Sorrow due to a promise she made to the deceased Kor.

Personality and traits

Kor Plouth's sensitive head tresses allowed her to detect emotional pheromone changes. Among the Children, she was the most dedicated to the Path of the Open Hand's teachings. She held no prejudices against Evereni. Kor disapproved of murder, believing it conflicted with the Force. Kor was affectionate towards Yana Ro, her girlfriend, and desired her parents' approval of their relationship.

Powers and abilities

Kor had some Force-sensitivity, and could have become a Jedi had she not been a member of the Path of the Open Hand instead. Her Force-sensitivity granted her increased acrobatic ability, which she honed with Cantos, a kind of exercise, and used to reach high up places that others could not. It also allowed her to sense Force artifacts, such as the Rod of Seasons. On missions with the Children, she was entrusted with the role of actually retrieving the artifacts.

Equipment

In line with Path members, Kor wore robes and often adorned her forehead with brikal-shell paint in three wavy lines. During the mission to Port Haileap, she and the other Children wore the robe over her work clothes. At the thanking feast, she tied her head tresses back with a thick band of blue cloth.
