Jhara, a Human female from the planet Dalicron-4, possessed Force-sensitivity during the Galactic Empire's era. In the year 3 ABY, she played a crucial role by guiding a team of Rebel Alliance operatives to her grandfather's farm. Her grandfather was the Jedi known as Gel, who had requested the Alliance take custody of the prophesied "Child of Light," named Caeleb. Upon their arrival, they discovered Gel severely injured, the result of torture inflicted by the Dark Jedi Tol Skaros, who was also in pursuit of Caeleb. During the confrontation, Skaros wounded Jhara, leading to her evacuation off-world by the Rebels aboard the Mon Calamari cruiser Home One for urgent medical attention.
Around 13 BBY, a Human female named Jhara was born and resided on the planet Dalicron-4, located in the Outer Rim Territories, throughout the Galactic Empire's dominance. As the granddaughter of Gel, a Jedi who had not achieved full knighthood, Jhara exhibited a sensitivity to the Force, although she was not a trained Force user. She lived at her grandfather's farm, where Gel occasionally mentioned a nearby location devoid of the Force, a place she never personally visited.
In 3 ABY, Gel grew concerned about the safety of Caeleb, the prophesied "Child of Light," a boy with a strong connection to the Force under his protection. Gel dispatched a communication to the Rebel Alliance, requesting that the Rebel Jedi Luke Skywalker assume guardianship of the child within the Alliance. Acting on Gel's instructions, Jhara journeyed to the village of Dalia to await Skywalker's arrival, with the mission of escorting him to Gel's farm. However, Skywalker was unavailable to travel to Dalicron-4, so he sent a team of Rebel agents to Dalia in his place. The Rebels quickly gained the favor of the local population by rescuing the missing boy Zanner. Upon hearing of the Rebels' arrival, Jhara contacted them at the house of Aloor, an Ithorian doctor. She initially felt uneasy about Skywalker's absence but was reassured by the group's sincerity. She then acquired some cracian thumper mounts from Meebo, a Rodian, for herself and the agents to use on their journey to Gel's farm.
Jhara led the Rebels through some woods situated beyond Dalia's landing field, embarking on a six hour trek to Gel's residence. During the journey, Jhara adjusted her pace to accommodate the Rebels' riding abilities. As they approached the farm, the Dark Jedi Tol Skaros ambushed and interrogated Gel, seeking information about Caeleb's whereabouts. The Whiphid threatened to feed Gel to his nek battle dogs if he refused to cooperate, leaving Gel severely injured and near death. As Jhara and the Rebels neared their destination, approximately one kilometer from the farm, Jhara sensed something was wrong and quickened her pace. She rushed into the farm and reached Gel's side as the wounded Jedi told her of Skaros' attack. With his final words, he urged the Rebels to find the spot devoid of the Force and protect Caeleb from the Whiphid. Jhara wept uncontrollably as her grandfather passed away from his injuries. Regaining her composure, she placed his body on a bed and covered him with blankets.
After retrieving a blaster carbine from Gel's service during the Clone Wars, Jhara mounted up and guided the Rebels on a three-hour journey to Caeleb's location. They arrived amidst an assault by Skaros, his nek battle dogs, and Viper probe droids on the homestead where Caeleb lived with his parents. Jhara attempted to confront the Dark Jedi, but she was struck by a blaster bolt between her shoulders and fell from her cracian thumper, sustaining critical injuries. The Rebels defeated Skaros and returned to Dalia with Jhara and Caeleb so that she could receive treatment from Aloor. Jhara subsequently accompanied the Rebels and Caeleb away from Dalicron-4 on the agents' YT-1300 light freighter Lazy Katarn. She and Caeleb were transported to the Mon Calamari cruiser Home One and placed under the care of Kylbar, an aide to the Rebel leader Admiral Gial Ackbar. Upon arrival, Jhara was taken away to receive further medical attention and a period in a bacta tank.
Lee Pickler created Jhara for Child of Light, a 2000 roleplaying adventure within the Star Wars Legends continuity, published by RPGA as the initial installment of the Child of Light saga. She received mentions in the saga's second and third adventures, Soulsaber and Light and Dark, released in 2001 and 2002, respectively.
In Child of Light, players assume the roles of the Rebel agents who encounter Jhara on Dalicron-4. Upon arriving at Gel's farm, Jhara immediately rushes inside to check on her grandfather, disregarding any attempts by the player characters to stop her. After she is shot down during the battle against Skaros, the Rebels can provide medical assistance to stabilize her condition. When the Rebel agents escort her back to Dalia, they have the option to leave her at the settlement or take her with them when they depart Dalicron-4. Additionally, Thaum Rystra, Skaros' undercover Dark Jedi master, may offer assistance if the player characters mention Jhara's condition to him. Recaps of the events of Child of Light in Soulsaber and Light and Dark confirm that the Rebels took Jhara with them and placed her in Kylbar's care, establishing this as the official outcome.
