Jom Lariin, a Valon, was the offspring of Nas Lariin, who served as the mayor of Lonisa City located on the planet Valo. During the High Republic Era, when the Republic Fair took place in Lonisa City, Jom encountered Kitrep Soh, who was the son of [Lina Soh](/article/lina_soh], the Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic. A rapid friendship formed between them, and they secretly left the public event just before the Nihil launched their attacked on the Valo Republic Fair.
This character, Jom Lariin, was conceived specifically for the Star Wars: The High Republic initiative in publishing. His initial appearance was in the novel The High Republic: The Rising Storm, penned by Cavan Scott and released to the public in 2021.
