Jovan

Jovan was a human of the male persuasion who served the Galactic Empire's military forces in the years leading up to the Battle of Yavin. He exploited his position within the Imperial military for personal gain, ultimately leading to his arrest by Agent Kallus of the Imperial Security Bureau, a former friend.

Biography

Early career

Jovan befriended the future Agent Kallus on Coruscant.

Some years before the Battle of Yavin, Jovan became a part of the Galactic Empire, the oppressive regime established by Emperor Palpatine following the conclusion of the Clone Wars. He journeyed to Coruscant, the planet serving as the seat of the Imperial government, to attend the Imperial Academy's main campus. It was there that Jovan encountered Kallus, who also sought entry into the institution. Sharing several classes, the two developed a friendship, with Jovan unofficially mentoring his comrade. Kallus would later acknowledge that he might not have graduated without Jovan's assistance.

Upon completing his education at the academy, Jovan became a fully fledged member of the Galactic Empire. He was eventually stationed on Garel, where he began manipulating the Imperial system to amass personal wealth. Meanwhile, Kallus had joined the Imperial Security Bureau (ISB), an organization dedicated to identifying and eliminating dissenters.

Hunted by the ISB

Jovan was apprehended by Kallus on Lothal.

After Jovan, by then a lieutenant, received orders to transfer to the Academy on Lothal, his former friend Kallus received orders to arrest him. Somehow discovering Kallus's mission, Jovan managed to flee the Academy despite efforts by Commandant Cumberlayne Aresko's forces to stop him. Piloting a stolen TIE fighter from the Academy's hangar, the lieutenant escaped to the Dinar settlement on Lothal. Kallus, however, successfully located his former friend, leading to a confrontation in an alley. Jovan fled once more, but Kallus pursued him, determined to bring him to justice. The chase, which began in the streets of Dinar, evolved into an aerial pursuit as Jovan and Kallus piloted TIE Fighters over Lothal's green plains. Ultimately, Jovan was defeated, outmaneuvered by a tactic he himself had taught Kallus during their friendship. The rebellious lieutenant begged for mercy, but the ISB agent refused to release him. Jovan was then taken into imprisoned.

Personality and traits

Jovan, a human male with fair skin and golden eyes, possessed brown hair of medium length in the years preceding the Battle of Yavin. By that point, he had also lost sight in his left eye, which he covered with an eyepatch.

Despite initially sharing Kallus's ideals upon joining the Empire, Jovan's views eventually diverged. By the time he was stationed on Garel, he had begun to exploit the system, believing that the Imperial doctrine prioritized personal enrichment over maintaining order for the masses.

Skills and abilities

As an Imperial officer, Jovan was proficient in the use of a blaster and trained in hand-to-hand combat. From his Academy days onward, Jovan favored operating in secrecy. While flying was not his forte, he compensated with exceptional marksmanship. During their time together at the academy, Jovan consistently outperformed Kallus in war games.

Equipment

Jovan's SE-14r light repeating blaster.

As a lieutenant, Jovan wore a gray-green Imperial uniform, along with black boots and gauntlet gloves. His belt was equipped with an identity disk. The metallic rank insignia on the left side of his tunic consisted of four tiles, with two red tiles above two blue ones. The lieutenant also carried an SE-14r light repeating blaster.
