During his career as a smuggler, Lando Calrissian owned two chromium-plated SE-14r blasters, distinguished by their Tibrin mother-of-pearl handles and detachable barrel extensions. He deployed one of these SE-14r blasters on missions to both Kullgroon and Kessel.
In 9 BBY, Tala Durith, an Imperial officer secretly working as a defector to assist Force-sensitives seeking refuge via the Hidden Path, carried an SE-14r while stationed at the battery of Imperial forces on the mining planet Mapuzo. During the Battle on Mapuzo, Durith used her SE-14r to eliminate several stormtroopers under her command, facilitating the escape of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and Princess Leia Organa from capture.
In 5 BBY, a rogue Imperial lieutenant named Jovan possessed one of these pistols, employing it against ISB Agent Kallus during his attempt to evade Imperial justice. Shortly following the events of the War of the Bounty Hunters, Luke Skywalker, concealing his identity with a hood, attempted a mind trick on two stormtroopers stationed on the river moon of Al'doleem in pursuit of information about Imperial activities there. Still grappling with the trauma of losing his right hand in the duel on Cloud City, Skywalker's attempt at a mind trick, executed with his newly installed cybernetic hand, failed. The troopers, perceiving him as a disruptive civilian, aimed their SE-14rs at him, ordering him to leave. Maintaining his disguise, Skywalker complied and informed his astromech droid, R2-D2, that a revised strategy was necessary.
