During the New Republic Era, Boba Fett, as the Daimyo, led the Fett gotra, a criminal enterprise situated on the desert planet of Tatooine. This organization asserted control over the city of Mos Espa, operating from a palace located on the edge of the Northern Dune Sea.
Fett's rise to power as a crime lord began around 9 ABY when he killed Bib Fortuna, who previously served as majordomo to the late Hutt crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure. Following Fortuna's death, Fett, now holding the title of Daimyo, claimed Jabba's territories and sought to govern Mos Espa. Initially, Fett pursued an aggressive expansion strategy, aiming to incorporate the holdings of the deceased Jabba. He was later joined by criminal factions such as the Aqualish, Klatoonian, and Trandoshan families, along with their respective vassals and tributaries. He also received tributes from Lortha Peel, a merchant operating from the Worker's District, and Garsa Fwip, the owner of the Sanctuary cantina.
The authority of Fett was challenged by the arrival of Jabba's relatives, the Twins from Nal Hutta, as well as the Pyke Syndicate originating from Oba Diah. Despite Fett's attempts to bring the Mayor of Mos Espa under his control, Mayor Mok Shaiz aligned himself with the Pykes.

Fett, in his capacity as a crime boss, used Jabba's former palace on the outskirts of the Northern Dune Sea in Mos Espa as his operational hub. From this location, he started to broaden his gotra's influence over key individuals on Tatooine. He upheld the established system of patronage, accepting tribute from those who recognized him as their new benefactor. Furthermore, he pursued a policy of expansion, aiming to incorporate the assets of the deceased Jabba. To that end, Fett intended to bring Jabba's numerous vassals under his dominion, thereby maintaining his predecessor's extensive empire.
Considering Fett's actions in power, such as his decision to forgo resuming the spice trade, his gotra, in some aspects, resembled a crime empire that was not entirely criminal. Boba Fett's organization had a rancor and a substantial amount of credits. The rancor was a calf bred from champion fighters. Fett housed the rancor in the animal enclosures beneath the throne room of his palace, and its training was personally overseen by its keeper, despite Fett being its owner.

Boba Fett, previously a bounty hunter, took on the title of Daimyo, although the legitimacy of his rule was questioned. Fett claimed that his former employer, the Hutt crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure's throne, had been seized by his majordomo Bib Fortuna. By killing Fortuna, Fett asserted his claim to Jabba's possessions, including the criminal empire that Jabba had established on Tatooine. Fett believed that crime lords like Jabba had made poor decisions. Instead, he felt that individuals like himself, who had experience in the criminal underworld, would be better equipped to ensure the survival and prosperity of themselves and their followers. After a near-death experience in the Great Pit of Carkoon and the time he spent with a Tusken Raider tribe, Fett, once a selfish bounty hunter focused solely on money and his reputation, underwent a transformation. It became clear to Fett that a tribe that supported its members was essential for survival, success, and a fulfilling life.
Fennec Shand served as Lord Fett's second-in-command, holding the title of Master Assassin. In addition, Fett was attended by two Gamorrean Warriors, the 8D-series smelter droid 8D8, and various other droids, including multiple dressing droids, an R4 astromech functioning as a service droid, an LEP-series service droid employed as a Rat Catcher, and UK2-B. Krrsantan joined the gotra after a bar fight in the Sanctuary, along with a rancor keeper.
Fett's vassals included Don Garfalaquox of the Aqualish crime family in the Worker's District, Dokk Strassi of the Strassi family in the city center, and Madam Garsa Fwip and her cantina, the Sanctuary. Fett also asserted nominal authority over the Mayor of Mos Espa, informing Mayor Mok Shaiz that he served the Daimyo, to which the mayor agreed. However, Mayor Shaiz was secretly collaborating with the Pyke Syndicate. The Mods, a street gang in Mos Espa, were integrated into the gotra when Boba Fett offered them employment. Fett also maintained relations with the people of Freetown, who assisted him during his conflict with the Pyke Syndicate.

Jabba Desilijic Tiure rose to prominence as a crime lord several centuries before the Galactic Civil War. He established his criminal empire from his palace in the Northern Dune Sea of the desert world Tatooine, expanding his operations and influence across the Outer Rim Territories and accumulating considerable wealth through various illicit activities, including smuggling and slave trading. Jabba was a prominent member of the Hutt Clan and became the sole leader of the Hutt clans following the elimination of their ruling council by the Galactic Empire.
Jabba's death created a significant power vacuum, leaving his empire vulnerable. The Hutts attempted to resolve a dispute regarding his will and determine who would inherit his criminal empire. However, several months later, a decision had not yet been reached. Jabba's former majordomo, Bib Fortuna, returned to his palace and assumed control of his operations as a crime lord.

After escaping from the Great Pit of Carkoon, Boba Fett, the former bounty hunter, began to develop ideas about establishing his own crime family. Disenchanted with his past as a mercenary, he vowed never to serve those he considered to be incompetent and "scugholes," believing that their decisions would ultimately lead to his death and the deaths of others like him. Furthermore, his time with a tribe of Tusken Raiders convinced him of the limitations of working alone. Consequently, Fett enlisted the help of Fennec Shand, an assassin whom he rescued and who offered her loyalty in return for his. Before pursuing his plans to become a crime lord, Fett sought to recover his armor.
After reclaiming his armor, Fett assisted the Mandalorian Din Djarin, as he was indebted to him, in ensuring the safety of the foundling Grogu. After obtaining Gideon's coordinates, Fett and the group used Slave I to pursue an Imperial shuttle carrying Doctor Penn Pershing and aided in the rescue of Grogu from Moff Gideon's Imperial remnant around 9 ABY.

Fett and Shand returned to Tatooine. Upon arriving, Shand stormed the palace, killing everyone inside except for Fortuna and his Twi'lek slave, whom she freed. Fett entered the throne room after Shand had eliminated Fortuna's bodyguards. Fortuna greeted Fett, expressing surprise at seeing the former bounty hunter despite rumors of his death. Fett's only response was to shoot Fortuna, killing the Twi'lek crime lord and taking his place on the throne with Shand by his side.

Following Fortuna's demise, Fett took control of Jabba's former empire as the new Daimyo on Tatooine. Fett aimed to consolidate Jabba's empire under his leadership as the new crime boss. To achieve this, he invited various local officials, including Don Garfalaquox, Dokk Strassi, and the Mayor of Mos Espa, to the palace to pay tribute to the new Daimyo. Mayor Mok Shaiz declined Fett's invitation and sent his Twi'lek majordomo in his place. Shand requested Fett's permission to kill the mayor's representative, viewing his presence in the mayor's stead as a sign of disrespect to the Daimyo. Furthermore, the majordomo had informed Fett that the mayor expected tribute from him. Despite Shand's request, Fett allowed the majordomo to leave the palace, noting his affiliation with the mayor.
Unlike his predecessors, Fett refrained from using coercion and displaying material wealth, preferring to govern through respect rather than fear or privilege. He also refused to torture prisoners, such as two Gamorrean warriors captured after Bib Fortuna's death. The Daimyo acknowledged the guards' loyalty to their former employers, Jabba and Fortuna, and agreed to pardon them in exchange for their allegiance as his new bodyguards. Fennec Shand and the droid 8D8, his advisors, considered this decision counterproductive to Fett's consolidation of power, believing that their patron needed to project strength through fear to secure the loyalty of Tatooine's population.

In addition to receiving vassals at the palace, Fett personally collected tribute. Accompanied by Shand and his new Gamorrean guards, he traveled to the city of Mos Espa to inspect the Sanctuary, a cantina previously controlled by Fortuna. Upon learning of Fortuna's death, the cantina's owner, Garsa Fwip, recognized Fett as the Sanctuary's new patron. Shortly after, Fett and Shand were ambushed outside the cantina by assassins from the Order of the Night Wind. With the help of Shand and his guards, Fett survived the attack but was injured and taken back to the palace to recover in his bacta tank.

After interrogating one of his would-be assassins, who revealed that Mayor Mok Shaiz had hired the Order of the Night Wind, Fett returned to Mos Espa. However, the mayor denied the allegation and convinced Fett to investigate Garsa Fwip's cantina. Upon returning to the Sanctuary, Fett was confronted by the Twins—a brother and sister—who arrived on Tatooine to inherit the territory of their late cousin, Jabba the Hutt. Fett opposed their attempt to claim Jabba's empire through kinship, asserting his own claim as the Daimyo of Mos Espa. Neither party yielded to the other's demands; Fett refused to relinquish his title as a crime boss, and the Hutt siblings chose to remain on Tatooine instead of returning to Nal Hutta. In addition to the servants who carried the Hutts on a litter, they were supported by the Wookiee gladiator Krrsantan.

Following a visit from Lortha Peel, a water-monger in the Worker's District who was experiencing problems with a street gang of youths stealing his inventory, Fett, Shand, and their Gamorrean bodyguards patrolled the streets of Mos Espa and located the gang. After a conversation, Fett recruited the street gang, known as the Mods, after Drash informed him that there was no work available. Despite Peel's objections, Fett partially compensated him for his troubles. Later, as Fett was undergoing a bacta treatment session, Krrsantan ambushed him in his bacta tank. Krrsantan failed, and Fett's forces subdued him.
In the aftermath of Krrsantan's capture, the Twins approached Fett and apologized for their attempts to have him killed. They also informed Fett of their intention to return to Nal Hutta, having learned that Mayor Mok Shaiz had already invited another criminal syndicate to take control of Jabba's empire.

In addition, they gifted Fett a rancor as a parting present and offered to release Krrsantan into the Twins' custody if they renounced their claim to Jabba's legacy. The Twins rejected the Wookiee who had failed them and simply advised Fett to leave Tatooine as well. Nevertheless, Fett freed Krrsantan, advising him, as one former bounty hunter to another, not to work for "scugholes."

Despite his distrust of the Twins, Fett was willing to investigate their claim about Mok Shaiz. Accompanied by Shand and the Mods, Fett returned to the Mos Espa City Hall to confront the mayor, whose majordomo claimed that Shaiz was unavailable. By the time they discovered that the mayor was not in his office, the majordomo fled from the city hall in a landspeeder. The Mods pursued the majordomo through the streets of Mos Espa on speeder bikes. Ultimately, the majordomo crashed his landspeeder into a meiloorun fruit stand, preventing his escape. Cornered by Fett and his street gang, the Twi'lek steward confessed that the mayor had joined the Pyke Syndicate. Skad, a member of the Mods, reported to Fett that several Pykes disembarked from a starliner that arrived in the spaceport of Mos Espa. The Pyke Syndicate's presence on Tatooine convinced Fett and Shand that war was imminent.
In addition to monitoring the Pykes, the Mods were tasked with finding Mayor Shaiz. After completing his last bacta treatment, Fett also returned to the city of Mos Espa. Convinced that the mayor's absence would create a power vacuum, Fett believed that his presence in the city was necessary, having vowed to bring order to his territories. He arrived at the Sanctuary in time to witness a bar brawl between Krrsantan and several Trandoshan patrons. Having been discarded by the Twins and consequently unemployed, Krrsantan accepted Fett's invitation to join his criminal empire.

The subsequent step in Fett's strategy was to forge a defensive alliance with Mos Espa's crime families against the Pyke Syndicate. Consequently, Fett and Shand hosted a banquet in the palace, inviting several crime lords while Krrsantan and the Gamorrean guards provided security. Each attendee was a former captain in the criminal empire of Jabba Desilijic Tiure; following the Hutt's death, they rejected Bib Fortuna as a successor.
Shand attempted to persuade them to join Fett by appealing to their greed, but the captains were hesitant to become involved in a dispute between Fett and the Pykes, noting that only Fett's territory had been threatened. Despite Fett's insistence that the Pykes were depleting Tatooine's resources, the Trandoshans had profited through the inclusion of their territory in the Pyke Syndicate's spice trade. Additionally, the head of the Klatooinian family suggested that they could make their own claim on the title of Daimyo by killing Fett. However, the guests were startled by a roar from Fett's rancor, which resided beneath the throne room where the meeting was held.
Although the crime lords ultimately rejected Fett's proposal of an alliance between the crime families of Mos Espa, they agreed to maintain a policy of neutrality in the conflict between Fett and the Syndicate. Even without the support of the other families, Fett continued his preparations for war. While he had an abundance of credits, his empire lacked reliable enforcers.

When Din Djarin journeyed to Mos Eisley to collect his new starship from Peli Motto, Fennec Shand proposed an exchange to the Mandalorian exile: credits in return for his assistance against Fett's adversaries. Djarin opted to aid Fett without compensation, thereby augmenting Fett's forces with another seasoned operative, in addition to Krrsantan. Nevertheless, Shand pointed out during a strategy session that their organization was understaffed to adequately defend Fett's territory should a full-scale conflict with the Syndicate erupt.
Recognizing the need for more soldiers, Djarin aimed to enlist the inhabitants of the Mos Pelgo territories. He engaged in a discussion regarding the situation in Mos Espa with Cobb Vanth, the Marshal of Freetown, who voiced his opposition to the Pyke Syndicate's operations on Tatooine. Subsequent to Djarin's departure from Freetown, Vanth was shot by the Pyke Syndicate's enforcer, Cad Bane. The Duros bounty hunter issued a warning to the people of Freetown, cautioning them against interfering with the Syndicate's affairs.

Following the showdown in Freetown, the Pyke Syndicate launched an assault on the Sanctuary—a key establishment in Mos Espa affiliated with Fett's crew. A bomb concealed within a camtono was delivered to the cantina by a pair of Pyke Syndicate operatives. The explosive detonated shortly after the Pykes vacated the premises, triggering a fiery blast that destroyed the Sanctuary and officially signaled the commencement of open warfare between Fett and the Pykes. The following day, Fett and Shand arrived at the bombed-out ruins of the Sanctuary. Fett declared that they were at war, to which Shand responded that it was inevitable. Shortly thereafter, Djarin arrived bearing news from Freetown, reporting that Vanth was assembling a garrison for them, unaware of Bane's interference. While they were planning how they would regroup, they waited for the arrival of the Freetown citizens. Shand dispatched Krrsantan to the Mos Espa city center, the Mods, led by Drash and Skad, to the Worker's District, and the Gammoreans to oversee the Klatooinian family at the Mos Espa spaceport.
While they were in a state of anticipation, 8D8 alerted him to the presence of a visitor. Fett stepped outside to confront the individual. The mysterious figure raised his head, revealing himself as Cad Bane, Fett's former mentor from whom he had not heard in almost three decades. Bane informed Fett that he was acting as a negotiator on behalf of the Pykes. Fett conveyed to his old mentor that he would not engage in negotiations with a ruthless murderer, to which Bane retorted that Fett himself possessed a similar reputation. Fett cautioned Bane that the syndicate was outnumbered, but Bane countered by revealing that Cobb Vanth was deceased, and his people would not be providing assistance. As Bane's anger towards Fett intensified, Djarin and Shand aimed their blasters at him. Bane then revealed that he also had reinforcements. Bane disclosed to Fett that the head of the Pyke Syndicate had orchestrated the execution of his Tusken family. Shand intervened, reminding Boba that they needed to maintain control and avoid acting solely on emotion. Bane mocked Fett for his perceived softness before departing, leaving the trio under the watch of the Pyke enforcers.

Without warning, all three families double-crossed Fett's enforcers, and before Fett could dispatch support, the Aqualish ambushed the Mods, trapping them in a corner. The Trandoshans launched an assault on Krrsantan, and despite the Wookiee's bravery, they managed to disarm him and knock him down. The Klatooinians attacked the two Gammorean guards, pushing them off a cliff. Fett instructed Shand to assist the Mods. Despite suffering heavy losses, Shand arrived in time to rescue them and instructed them to retreat to the Sanctuary. Meanwhile, a group of Pyke guards, led by a Capo, arrived to negotiate with the Daimyo. Fett sent Shaiz's majordomo to negotiate with them, buying Fett time to regroup. Meanwhile Fett and Djarin fought off against the Pykes. They defeated most of the troopers. Despite their advantage of their Mandalorian armor, they were knocked to the ground and shot at.

Just as things looked grim, the people of Freetown, under the leadership of Taanti and Jo, arrived to rescue the pair, and fend off against the Syndicate. The Mods also joined the fray, employing extreme measures. Krrsantan returned as well, engaging numerous Pykes with his blaster rifle and his brass knuckles. As Krrsantan sought cover, he was struck and sustained multiple shots to the back. Fett rushed out to save him. With the few of the Pykes retreating they cheered up for their victory, Djarin scaned two Scorpenek annihilator droids arriving and dogging fire on them. Fett ordered everyone to run, while Djarin distracted the droids with the Darksaber. Djarin was later joined by Peli Motto and Grogu who came to see him, as they were running from the Scorpenek droid. Meanwhile the Freetown citizens and members of Fett gotra were pinned down by one of the droids and a few Pyke guards. Jo and Drash went to the top off their building to distract the droid.

Fett made a timely return with his rancor, saving Djarin's life. The rancor successfully neutralized the two droids and defeated numerous enemy soldiers. Just as Fett was about to eliminate the Pykes, Bane reappeared. Fett's Rancor attacked Bane, before activating his flamethrower, harming the creature and knocking Fett off its back. As the rancor fled, Fett and Bane were left alone outside the streets of Mos Espa. Bane reminded Fett of his dark history as a bounty hunter, and told Fett it was in his blood and he couldn't run from his past. The pair had a showdown. Before Fett could even aim his weapon, Bane had shot him to the ground. Bane then took another shot and walked up to Fett, kicking him and ripping off his helmet. Bane raised his blaster and told Fett that his last lesson to him is that he should only look out for himself. As Bane prepared to fire upon Fett one last time, Fett swung at him with his gaderffii stick, knocking him away. Fett then knocked Bane to the ground, and, in a final blow, stabbed him in the chest with the stick's bladed end, taking out the infamous bounty hunter. He left Bane for dead on the sands of Tatooine.

Fett's rancor went on a rampage in the city while the Freetowners and the Mods shot at it. Djarin ordered them to stop firing at the rancor while he attempted to calm it. Right before the rancor could finish him, Grogu appeared and used the Force to calm the beast. Back in Mos Eisley the Pyke-in-charge announced the Syndicate retreat from Tatooine, much to the frustration of the leaders of the crime families and Mayor Shaiz. Suddenly, Shand arrived and killed all the Pyke Syndicate leadership and the corrupt Mayor of Mos Espa.
Sometime after their victory, Shand and Fett traveled to Black Spire Outpost on Batuu on a mission, looking for hidden Pyke Syndicate members and recruiting for the Fett gotra.
