A K-spline functioned as a component utilized within computerized console systems. In 34 ABY, situated on the Colossus refueling depot, Nenavakasa Nalor, a saboteur, manipulated engineer Neeku Vozo by persuading him to insert a K-spline into a console, thereby redirecting power. Once Nalor's deception came to light, Vozo ultimately extracted the component, undoing the alterations.
The K-spline, generally shaped like a cylinder, was a gray mechanical piece designed for insertion into console systems found on fueling space stations. The consequence of such an insertion was the rerouting of power, drawing it away from other systems on the station.
During 34 ABY, Neeku Vozo, an engineer, encountered difficulties repairing the scanning apparatus aboard the Colossus fueling station. Nenavakasa Nalor, a fellow engineer secretly working as a saboteur for the First Order, suggested that Vozo insert the K-spline into a console as a means of performing a soft reset and repairing the systems. However, she was actually deceiving Vozo into inadvertently sabotaging the station's thruster systems by redistributing power.

Later, while working together in the station's service tunnel A2, Nalor attempted to confess her true intentions to Vozo, admitting that the K-spline did not function as he believed. After Nalor's exposure, Vozo, along with Resistance member Kazuda Xiono, reversed the majority of the changes the saboteur had implemented on the Colossus. With the thrusters still not working, Vozo determined that he needed to remove the K-spline, which he did, enabling the mobile station to evade the First Order's forces that had arrived to seize it.
The K-spline made its debut in "The Engineer," the fifth episode of the second season of Star Wars Resistance, the animated television series, which was broadcast on November 3, 2019. In the episode guide associated with it, the component is mistakenly referenced as a caseline. The animation model designed for the K-spline had previously been employed to depict various mechanical components in the double episode premiere of the first season, "The Recruit," which was released on October 7, 2018.
