Biography

During the Galactic Civil War, a significant conflict between the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic, lived a female Human named Kaila Min. She was a frequent visitor to the Gambling Hall in Narmle, a city located on the swamp moon of Rori, which orbits Naboo. Following the Battle of Yavin, she began working for Black Sun, a powerful criminal organization active throughout the galaxy. In 1 ABY, she became involved in the hunt for Cal Handro, a freighter pilot who had disappeared. The Galactic Empire, the Rebel Alliance, and Tyla Jinn, a friend of Handro, were all seeking him. Jinn, Imperial Lieutenant Jevan Monsul, and Alliance Officer Veega Madish each attempted to discover Handro's location after his ship crashed on Rori. Black Sun also sought him because he was smuggling a new type of spice.

Tyla Jinn, Jevan Monsul, and Veega Madish all hired spacers to investigate the crash site of Handro and some of them managed to collect samples of the spice. However, the Black Sun leaders on Rori did not want anyone to find out about the spice's existence. To prevent this, they set a trap for the spacers with the aim of recovering the spice.

Kaila Min made contact with Tyla Jinn, Jevan Monsul, and Veega Madish, claiming that she had seen the missing pilot wandering in the Rori wilderness. She pretended to be interested in helping to rescue Handro, and reached out to at least one of the parties involved. Consequently, they dispatched subordinates to Rori to meet with Min and obtain specific details about Handro's last known whereabouts. The spacers who were assigned this task met Min at Narmle's Gambling Hall, which also served as one of Narmle's two main hotels. After welcoming the spacers, who she was expecting, Kaila Min gave them directions to the location where she claimed to have seen Handro, including precise coordinates that she uploaded to the spacers' datapad. Min stated that she had last seen Handro directly northeast of Narmle, to the north of some ruins and west of a statue head.

However, the spacers were unaware that the area was being watched by several members of the Black Sun criminal organization. As the spacers set out to investigate the location provided by Min, they were ambushed by Black Sun initiates, smugglers and henchmen. The spacers, however, defeated them due to their superior combat skills. After killing the criminals, the spacers found a datapad on one of them, which contained the location of a Black Sun bunker in the Vaydean Marsh area of Rori. The spacers headed towards this base, hoping to find more information about Cal Handro's location. The spacers eventually found out that the Black Sun knew nothing about the pilot and was only interested in the spice.

Personality and traits

Kaila Min in Narmle's Gambling Hall

Kaila Min possessed dark skin, red-brown hair, and brown eyes. Her demeanor was kind and helpful, as demonstrated by her willingness to assist in the search for Cal Handro and her interactions with the people she met in Narmle. However, when it came to helping the Galactic Empire, she expected financial compensation, unlike her interactions with the Rebel Alliance, whom she was willing to help out of a cautious altruism. This suggests she had some sympathy for the Rebellion, but she was never willing to be seen talking to a Rebel, or even contact one directly, out of fear of being associated with an organization considered to be terrorists by much of the galaxy. Min also cared about the average citizens of the galaxy, which was evident in her reluctance to let someone take on a dangerous task. During her time on Rori, she enjoyed visiting Narmle's Gambling Hall, which had an alcohol bar and gambling machines like lugjack and jubilee.

Equipment

During one of her visits to Narmle's Gambling Hall, Min wore black dress shoes and a luxurious gown similar to the one worn by Padmé Amidala when she was with Anakin Skywalker in Varykino in 22 BBY. However, unlike Padmé's darker gown, Kaila Min's gown had a light gray skirt and neck piece, and a darker shade of gray for the gown's corset and arm coverings. She also had a dark gray shawl coat with red trim, and at least one pistol.

Behind the scenes

Kaila Min was a non-player character featured in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game created by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, before it was shut down on December 15, 2011. She was included in the game as part of the second chapter of the Secrets of the Syren" story arc in a quest called "More Than You Bargained For" during Publish 14.1 on March 24, 2005.

The quest had three different paths for Imperial, Rebel, and neutral players. Although the overall quest structure was almost identical for each of these three options, there were small differences in dialogue and in who started the quest. For example, Jevan Monsul started the Imperial version of the quest, while Veega Madish and Tyla Jinn started the Rebel and neutral versions, respectively. If the Imperial version was chosen, Kaila Min would contact Jevan Monsul with information about Cal Handro's location, but she would expect to be paid. If the Rebel version was chosen, Min would secretly contact Veega Madish. Similarly, Min would contact Tyla Jinn for players who were not aligned with either the Empire or the Rebellion. This article does not specify which of the three parties Kaila Min contacted, or if she contacted all of them. Eventually, the Secrets of the Syren story arc was removed with the "Chapter 1," published on June 8, 2006, because of the major changes planned for Rori with the introduction of the Battle of Restuss.

In the Threat of the Conqueror expansion for the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game, which was released on March 16, 2010, Kaila Min was featured in a quest card called More Than You Bargained For. The card description mistakenly called her Kalla Min.
