A snack food known as Kat's Kettle Corn was conceived by the human Kat Saka. It was available for purchase at Kat Saka's Kettle, which was her restaurant located within Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu. The snack was prepared using popped corn kernels, or grains. The finished product was a fluffy, yellow treat served in a bowl. This corn could be seasoned with either Nerfsteak Seasoning or Saka Salt, making it edible for Artiodacs.
In the year 34 ABY, the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs penned The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook, and included a recipe for this particular snack. Within the pages of the book, Tuggs explained that he would always spend credits at Kat Saka's Kettle to purchase a bag of unpopped kernels. His reasoning was so that he could recreate the dish himself, particularly if he were ever stationed at a different outpost. Tuggs regarded the corn as a signature offering from Saka, and suggested enhancing Kettle Corn with an additional ingredient. However, he also acknowledged that the grains were "good enough to eat plain."
The snack, Kat's Kettle Corn, made its debut in the 2019 cookbook titled Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook, authored by Marc Sumerak and Chelsea Monroe-Cassel. The out-of-universe recipe provided calls for vegetable oil, yellow food coloring, sugar, popcorn kernels, and also Saka Salt. Saka Salt is an in-universe ingredient, and it is given its own recipe within the same cookbook. Despite the cookbook's assertion that the snack is available at Kat Saka's Kettle, the actual Kettle location at the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge attraction does not offer this item for sale.
